Toyota to open new parts depot in Czech Republic

Toyota today announced it will open a new parts depot in the Czech Republic, to ensure the continued prompt delivery of service parts and accessories in anticipation of European sales growth. Located in Krupka, north-western Czech Republic, the Toyota Parts Centre Czech Republic (TPCCZ) will have a surface area of 12,000m2 and begin operations in May 2007 with 75 employees. An estimated &euro10 million will be invested in TPCCZ. Depending on market growth, TPCCZ may expand further to help meet demand.

TPCCZ will be responsible for the distribution of parts and accessories to some 250 retailers in the Czech Republic and the eastern part of Germany. TPCCZ is Toyota's 14th European parts depot.

Toyota achieved its ninth consecutive record year of sales in Europe in 2005, with 964,208 vehicles delivered — a 5% rise over the previous year. Toyota also produced 638,000 cars, 588,000 engines and almost 337,000 transmissions at its plants in the U.K., France, Turkey, Poland and the Czech Republic. For 2006, Toyota has set the target of exceeding 1 million units in Europe and operating at full capacity to produce 806,000 cars, 860,000 engines and 575,000 transmissions at its eight plants.
