Toyota Motor Tohoku to establish engine plant
TOYOTA MOTOR TOHOKU, INC. announced today that it has decided to establish an engine plant in Miyagi Prefecture to provide engines to the Toyota Group in the Tohoku region of Japan.
Plans call for the engine plant to be operational by the end of 2010, producing a new type of compact 4-cylinder gasoline engine. Annual production capacity will eventually be approximately 400,000 engines, although initial capacity will be set at 200,000 engines a year.
