TMC to jointly hold 26th Toyota Youth Orchestra Camp

TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION (TMC) announces TMC and the Federation of Japan Amateur Orchestras will jointly hold the 26th Youth Orchestra Camp at Act City Hamamatsu in Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture, from March 19 to 22, 2010. The camp, sponsored by TMC as part of its social contribution activities, is a four-day study program that has been held since 1985 to cultivate and train young musicians.

Under the motto, "working under our own steam", leading professional musicians instruct young musicians from amateur orchestras across Japan, providing participants with performance-related skills and valuable experience. To date, more than 4,500 people have participated in the camp, with many now active in regional orchestras.

The camp is also open to visitors to observe the instruction.

On the camp's final day, the Japan Youth Symphony Orchestra, which us made up of camp participants, will showcase the results of the camp's instruction through a free-of-charge, reserved-seat concert performance. Shigeo Genda, honorary director of the Kanagawa Philharmonic Orchestra, is scheduled to conduct.

Applications for free tickets to the final-day concert can be made online at http://www.jao.or.jp/ (Japanese). Further information regarding the camp is available at http://www.toyota.co.jp/en/social_contribution/education/tyoc/.
