Toyota's leadership in vehicle quality confirmed by Germany's TÜV for second consecutive year
On January 17, Toyota received, for the second consecutive year, the Golden TÜV Award thanks to the brand's remarkable performance in the 2012 TÜV Report. In the most recent edition of the report by Germany's leading technical inspection agency, no less than 18 Toyota models took Top 10 positions across five vehicle age categories.
Speaking at the award ceremony, Toyota Deutschland GmbH President, Toshiaki Yasuda said: "The Golden TÜV Award recognises the fact that we offer cars to customers of the highest possible quality and reliability."
He continued: "Every day, we continue to strive for the highest quality of our products and for continuous improvement, with the ultimate goal of securing customer satisfaction."
The Toyota Prius led the youngest category in the report for cars aged two to three years with just 1.9% of the models tested showing any signs of defect. The latest result showed a decrease in defect rate of the Prius, down from 2.2% in the 2011 report. In the same category, the Toyota Auris came in second.
Toyota's continuing success in the annual TÜV Report recognises not only the vehicle quality throughout the model range, but more specifically Toyota's full hybrid technology. Toyota will continue to roll-out its proven full hybrid technology to even more of the company's core models in the near future.
