Good afternoon everyone and a warm welcome to Toyota.

As we have just seen Toyota is defined by 'Better'.

Because we believe there is 'Always a Better Way' to create even better cars.

Take the TOYOTA i-ROAD for example.

This is a concept which is fun to experience it will definitely put a smile on the face of everyone that drives it.

It's compact and agile, able to easily move through congested areas.

You may think you have seen this kind of product before.

But at only 850mm wide and with an innovative leaning system i-ROAD is able to drive in places where other so-called 'small' products cannot go.

And, of course, it's much easier to park than competitor products as it fits in motorcycle-sized spaces.

i-ROAD is also a very serious proposition.

Safe and easy to drive with zero emissions, we believe i-ROAD has great potential as a personal mobility solution for urban journeys.

For example, customers could use i-ROAD as the main solution to complete the first or last kilometres of their journey, to connect efficiently with public transportation or other longer-distance mobility solutions. And it's this type of mobility concept that we have just announced we're going to trial in the city of Grenoble over the next three years.

i-ROAD offers a good solution for commuting in urban areas, but in-line with our mobility roadmap, we recognise that customers also have other needs to be addressed with a sustainable approach.

That's why we continue to lead in low-emissions technology right across the market.

Hybrid Synergy Drive technology remains at the heart of this approach and the world is coming to Toyota and hybrid systems more-and-more.

In fact, this month we will have sold more than 5 million full hybrid products worldwide.

And as before the rate of sale is continuing to accelerate.

Here in Europe we sold 110,000 full hybrid products last year up from 85,000 in 2011 - an increase of 30%.

Hybrid products now represent more than 13% of our European sales, with some markets already above 20%.

We can really say that today, with this technology, we have reached the "tipping point"

And, as you know, our hybrid technology can be used regardless of fuel type.

To illustrate that point. I can confirm that at least one of the 21 new full hybrid products we will launch by 2015 will be equipped with a fuel-cell.

Hybrid Synergy Drive is also a very versatile technology as we have demonstrated during last year's World Endurance Championship.

The race in Fuji was significant, not just because Toyota again took the top spot on the podium but also because it was the first time that hybrid cars finished in positions 1, 2 and 3.

Our main competitors have now also recognised the benefits of hybrid technology.

They have abandoned their diesel-only powertrains and followed us into exclusive hybrid use.

2013 will be a great year in WEC - perhaps one of the most exciting ever and certainly one of the most efficient.

Back in 2010, when I took the leadership of Toyota in Europe, I presented a 3 year Turnaround plan.

Step 1 in 2010: was to stop the downward spiral in terms of sales and profits.

Step 2 in 2011: was to generate a positive cashflow and starting again to grow.

These two steps were both achieved despite the very challenging market conditions.

For 2012, the 3^rd Step: I committed to keep growing sales and to deliver profits for Toyota in Europe.

And to do it despite the continuing uncertainty in the market.

And again we will do it.

In the first 9 months of this fiscal year, turnover increased by 2.1%, however through our strong actions profitability increased by 149%

This great result is thanks to the increasing strength of our products and also to the dedication of our Retailers and our Team Members across Europe to create a more efficient business.

In 2013 the market will most likely decrease further but we will continue to grow in a sustainable way.

This year we will sell around 850,000 units.

Within that figure we expect to deliver 150,000 full hybrid products, raising the sales mix to 18% of our total - a 35% increase compared to 2012.

Now let me introduce Toyota Motor Europe's Executive Vice President in charge of Sales and Marketing, Karl Schlicht, to tell you about our exciting new products.

As Didier suggested, Toyota in 2013 will be boosted by many new models.

The key focus is the rejuvenation of our products in Europe's largest vehicle segment - the C-Segment.

Last month, we launched the all new Toyota Auris.

We like to think of it as 'THE' alternative in the C-segment - especially with our advanced Hybrid system.

Continuous refinement of this technology means that today we can announce a new environmental benchmark.

From June this year, customers will be able to buy an Auris Hybrid that emits just 84g.

Customer interest in the new Auris has exceeded our expectations and we've already received orders covering half of our annual hybrid volume in just 2 months!

That's why we're excited to take the next step.

In Paris we previewed the new Toyota Auris Touring Sports but today we're ready to reveal the headlines.

85 grams CO2 for the hybrid version and up to 1658 litres of luggage space.

And as you can see, this class-leading efficiency and superior capacity have been wrapped in a great design.

We believe that Auris Touring Sports is now the 'reference' in the segment it defines how a car in this segment should look, how much it should carry and how efficient it should be.

Our presence in the market will be further boosted by a critically important model.

It was the original pioneer in the crossover segment a car that truly defined a new market when it was first launched back in 1994.

Now we're launching the 4^th generation of this icon - the all new RAV4.

It's been designed to meet the needs of increasingly demanding customers but still retains that 'RAV'ness that has connected so well with over 4.5million customers around the world.

The exterior design has evolved to become more distinctive and increasingly sophisticated.

The interior is refined with premium-quality execution and materials.

The new Integrated Dynamic Drive System delivers great on-road performance while retaining all of the security that comes from an advanced all-wheel-drive system.

Today's RAV4 is more capable, more versatile and more fun to drive than ever before.

And it's more efficient.

With CO2 emissions starting from just 127g/km, the new RAV4 delivers class-leading levels of low emissions.

The new RAV4 and the Auris Touring Sports are both great demonstrations of Toyota's philosophy of 'Always Making Better Cars'

But of course, the Toyota that most clearly captures the emotional side of this philosophy is the GT86.

I think it's fair to say that this car has had a fantastic reception since its debut just 1 year ago.

Many of you have told us that GT86 re-captures a spirit of driving that was once thought lost.

You believed that fun had been consigned to an earlier time or moved to a level that was out of reach for most customers.

Perhaps that's why GT86 has won so many awards.

We like to think that's your way of encouraging us… to make sure this kind of car has a long future ahead of it.

Well, we hear you.

So here's a 'possible' next step in the story of GT86.

Ladies and gentlemen, I'm pleased to present the FT-86 Open Concept driven on stage by the Chief Engineer - Tetsuya Tada.

Now that's a stunning car !

Tada-san, first of all I'd like to congratulate you on the great success of the GT86.

Secondly, I'd like to thank you for creating such a fabulous-looking concept and for bringing it here to Geneva

Now, I know you're all wondering what happens to the weight…

… how much heavier is it?

… and how is the weight distribution affected?

You're probably also wondering about body rigidity and whether this concept car is true to the spirit of the 86.

Well, we've been having the same considerations and Tada-san and his team are now deep into that analysis.

I don't think I'm revealing too much when I tell you that the initial results are very encouraging, particularly as GT86 was designed from the start to accommodate a cabrio body style.

The fact that we've again used the '86' reference probably tells you all you need to know.

I hope you can find Tada-san with his new concept after this press conference - as he is always up for a great quote, and honestly we can't control what he says about his baby!

Representing the next step in Toyota's European C-Segment product offensive, the stylish new Toyota Auris Touring Sports adds the popular wagon body style to the model range's comprehensive choice of powertrains.

Combining dynamic design with segment-best functionality and superior loadspace, the new Auris Touring Sports is the first wagon in the segment available with a full hybrid powertrain. With battery located beneath the rear seats, the installation of Toyota's Hybrid Synergy Drive technology offers no compromise to either loadspace or luggage capacity.

Wagon variants currently represent 25% of the C-segment sales mix, with 76% of those sales attributed to the fleet market. The new Auris Touring Sports will further broaden the appeal of the Auris range, helping to increase the model's segment share to over 5.0% in 2014, its first full year of European sales. At launch, the new Auris Touring Sports' anticipated pan-European hybrid mix will be approximately 40%. This demonstrates that, far from a niche solution, full hybrid is a mainstream proposition, accessible to the largest possible audience.

Designed for Europe, its largest volume market, the new Auris Touring Sports will be built at Toyota Motor Manufacturing UK alongside the Avensis, reinforcing the company's commitment to its European operations.

SUPERIOR LOADSPACE AND SEGMENT-BEST FUNCTIONALITY

Sharing its 2,600 mm wheelbase and 10.4 metre turning circle, the Auris Touring Sports is 285 mm longer than the 4,275 mm hatchback, all of which is dedicated to the extended loadspace.

Rear seats in place, the loadspace is 1,115 mm long and 1,452 mm wide with a superior capacity of 530 litres. With the 60:40 split/folding rear seats folded flat, loadspace length increases to a maximum length of 1,880 mm, a maximum height of up to 890 mm (760 mm with double floor deckboard in place) and a total capacity of 1,680 litres.

The Hybrid models benefit from a packaging of the battery pack under the rear seat, and luggage capacity is equivalent to that of conventional models in the range.

This superior luggage capacity is matched by segment-best functionality. The Auris Touring Sports is the only C-segment wagon to offer customers the combined benefits of Toyota's Easy Flat, one-touch foldable rear seats, a double level loadspace floor, a two-way tonneau cover, a roller-type luggage net, shopping bag hooks, aluminium roof rails, three 12-Volt accessory sockets (including one in the luggage compartment) and a deck lamp.

The practicality of these functional features is further bolstered by a generous range of storage spaces, including a glove box, a sunglasses holder, coat hooks, a coin box, 4 cup and 4 bottle holders, a sliding centre console armrest with document holder, and dashboard and rear centre console storage space for small items.

The luggage area also benefits from several ancillary storage spaces, in the form of left and right compartment side wall boxes, and secondary front and side boxes beneath the loadspace deckboard.

A new, optional Towing Pack allows the Auris Hybrid Touring Sports to tow loads of up to 345 kg.

DYNAMIC EXTERIOR DESIGN

As with the new hatchback, the Auris Touring Sports' bold, dynamic exterior design maximises the aerodynamic benefits of the model's reduction in overall height, and the dynamic improvements offered by its lower centre of gravity.

The new exterior design has an excellent aerodynamic performance. The Auris Touring Sports' drag coefficient of just Cd 0.28 contributes to both improved handling stability and reduced fuel consumption.

The new Auris Touring Sports shares the hatchback's new frontal design, which combines Toyota's Under Priority design language with Keen Look headlamp and LED Daytime Running Light (DRL) detailing to give the new wagon a powerful yet elegant road presence.

The Under Priority design features a large, trapezoidal lower grille set within the front bumper, and a smaller upper grille running full width between the new headlamps.

Beneath a low sweeping bonnet line, the upper grille features a central, chrome-plated horizontal trim bar which is visually extended into the narrow, purposefully styled headlamp clusters to accentuate the width of the vehicle.

Within the headlamp clusters, the trim bar flows into an 'eyebrow' form which accentuates the exceptionally narrow clearance between the bonnet and the Bi-HID (High Intensity Discharge) or halogen lamp projector unit. This highly innovative headlamp packaging also incorporates LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs). Fitted as standard on all grades, they give the new Auris Touring Sports a unique visual signature.

Flanked by integral foglamp housings with chrome surround detailing, the large lower grille combines a piano black finish with a floating, lower chrome accent to the lip spoiler, once again accentuating the width of the new wagon and emphasising its planted, solid stance.

In profile, the Auris Touring Sports also shares the hatchback's steeply raked windscreen, which flows into an extended roofline featuring aluminium roof rails and an integral rear spoiler. At 1,553 mm long by 960 mm wide, the optional Skyview panoramic sunroof is one of the largest in the segment and further strengthens the impression of roominess created by the all-new interior.

The extended, three-panel side glazing features blacked-out pillars, including a piano black finish to the B pillar, and is underscored by chrome-accented trim above the bodywork's powerful, rising beltline crease.

To the rear, the Auris Touring Sports features a new bumper and tailgate design, with the loadspace sill set 100 mm lower than that of the hatchback, above a chrome floating rear spoiler. As with the rest of the Auris range, a distinctive, wraparound rear combination lamp design reinforces the shape of the rear wing, new D pillar design and rear screen.

The new Auris Touring Sports will be available in a choice of ten exterior colours, of which three -Granite Grey, Avantgarde Bronze and Horizon Blue- are new. Pearl White is exclusive to full hybrid models. A choice of wheels includes a new 15" and 16" wheelcap design and 16" and 17" alloys.

The Auris Hybrid Touring Sports incorporates unique detailing to identify it as the flagship of the model range. The lower grille and lower rear bumper diffuser are finished in a hybrid-exclusive graphite gloss paint colour, and the Toyota bonnet and tailgate logos are in hybrid blue. There are hybrid logos on the front wings and a hybrid mark on the tailgate. Both 15" silver and 17" dark metallic alloy wheels are of a new design unique to the full hybrid model.

HIGH QUALITY INTERIOR DESIGN

Offering more space and greater comfort for occupants, the new interior features bold forms, higher quality materials and improved sensory quality. The dashboard combines a strong sense of horizontality to reinforce front cabin width and spaciousness with a more ergonomic, driver-focused layout of instrumentation and switchgear.

The more driver-oriented nature of the design is reinforced by the strong curve of the instrument binnacle hood flowing down the side of the centre console to give a visual focus to the driver's cockpit area.

Incorporating longer travel and greater height adjustment, a new front seat design offers excellent comfort. The seat height has been reduced by 40 mm and the steering wheel tilt angle lowered by 2 degrees, creating a more engaging driving position. Standard on Style grade, a newly developed sports seat offers a high level of additional lateral support.

The new front seat design also increases rear seat knee room by 20 mm, and the rear door opening width has been enlarged.

Within the new instrument binnacle, a clear, simple two or three dial design features white needles and numerals. All switchgear uses the same font, and both instrument binnacle and centre console are backlit in clear blue for a premium look and complete visual consistency.

Bringing a strong sense of visual coordination to the new interior, the meter surrounds, centre stack, transmission tunnel trim, air conditioning and audio controls, and door handles are all finished in a matching, high quality, satin silver finish. The air vents, audio panel, transmission tunnel, steering wheel and gear lever are trimmed with a silver paint finish.

The new interior's sensory quality and visual harmony is further enhanced by the improved tactility of finishes through the cabin, with careful consideration given to every surface texture with which the occupants will come into contact.

The instrument panel upper surface and door trim shoulder areas are finished in soft touch materials, and the cockpit pillars are trimmed with fabric. On higher grades, the dashboard itself is finished in leather.

The gearshift knob is of a new design, and the steering wheel is clad in the highest quality Nappa leather with single baseball stitching. Both assist grips and door grips are finished in a soft texture grain, and the door armrests are padded.

Live and Active grade seats are finished in a high quality fabric Style grade seats adding red panels. Lounge grade seats are finished in black velour with genuine leather seat bolsters. Black, full leather upholstery is available as an option on Lounge grade models, with an Ice Grey leather option exclusive to Hybrid models.

The new Auris Touring Sports will be available with a new black interior colour scheme featuring matt textures. A matt grain with the appearance of real leather is created by combining a geometrical pattern of dots with leather grain texture.

The Auris Hybrid Touring Sports has an exclusive meter and Eco Drive Support monitor design within the driver's instrument binnacle, a hybrid blue shift-by-wire gear lever and hybrid-exclusive instrument panel ornamentation.

Active grade versions feature a hybrid blue brushed aluminium instrument panel finish, whilst high grade models offer a choice of Ice Blue leather or Black leather inserts.

ENHANCED DRIVING DYNAMICS

Reinforcing Toyota's commitment to improving the dynamic abilities of its vehicles, the Auris Touring Sports benefits from all the improvements made to the new Auris hatchback. Enhancements to its bodyshell rigidity, suspension, steering, driving position and NVH characteristics offer drivers a more comfortable and engaging driving experience.

New bracing and reinforcements to the underbody, and front and rear structures have increased body rigidity. The extensive use of high tensile steel in the bodyshell construction has helped to minimise the vehicle's overall weight.

In addition, reducing the Auris model range's overall height by 55 mm, ground clearance by 10 mm and the height of the new front seats by 40 mm has lowered the vehicle's centre of gravity, benefitting the Auris Touring Sports' high speed stability and cornering agility. The lowered centre of gravity also allows for a reduction in spring rates for greater ride comfort.

Numerous components of the front MacPherson strut suspension have been revised, including the design of the upper support, bound stopper, coil spring and shock absorber. The spring rate has been reduced and the shock absorbers fine-tuned to combine ride comfort with superior stability and excellent steering response.

1.33 litre petrol and 1.4 litre diesel engine models feature torsion beam rear suspension, whilst 1.6 litre petrol, 2.0 litre diesel and full hybrid models are fitted with a double wishbone system to the rear.

The Electric Power Steering (EPS) itself has also been improved. The steering column benefits from a more rigid attachment to ensure a linear steering feel, a new EPS control suppresses changes in steering force for improved linearity and a high gear ratio provides greater steering response. In all, these revisions equip the EPS with more directness, better feedback and quicker turn for greater vehicle agility.

Extensive NVH measures ensure that the new Auris Touring Sports not only offers a comfortable ride, but is also quiet. Comprehensive soundproofing within the engine bay, front wheel arches and dashboard has minimised both engine and road noise within the cabin.

FULL HYBRID — A COMPELLING PROPOSITION

The launch of the Auris Hybrid in 2010 made Toyota the first manufacturer to offer a choice of three powertrains in the C-segment. Since its launch, some 60,000 full hybrid versions of the Auris have been sold, making it the second most popular full hybrid in Europe, after the Prius.

The new Auris Hybrid Touring Sports' HSD powertrain features improvements to further enhance Toyota's unique, full hybrid driving experience.

The control logic of the Hybrid Synergy Drive system's seamless, planetary gear transmission has been modified to give a smoother, more natural feeling to vehicle acceleration, with a closer relationship between vehicle speed and engine revs.

Capable of operating both independently and in combination, the HSD system's 1.8 litre VVT-i petrol engine and electric motor generate a maximum power output of 136 DIN hp (100 kW), equipping the Auris Hybrid Touring Sports with a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 11.2 seconds and a maximum speed of 175 km/h.

Conversely, the Auris Hybrid Touring Sports returns class-leading, highly tax-efficient CO₂ emissions of just 85 g/km. In addition, it generates significantly lower NO_x and NO particulate (PM) emissions than diesel engined cars of comparable performance.

Moreover, when operating in a unique, switchable EV mode not available to mild hybrid vehicles, the new full hybrid generates zero CO₂, NO_x and PM emissions.

The Auris Hybrid Touring Sports powertrain is designed to eliminate the need for the petrol engine as often as possible during city driving. Toyota's own data show that the cumulative effect of full hybrid operation leads to high proportions of zero-emissions, EV driving.

The new Auris Hybrid Touring Sports represents outstanding value for money. CO₂ emissions of 85 g/km offer customers significant, pan-European tax incentives, inner city congestion charge exemption and exceptionally low running costs. Service, maintenance and repair can be more than 50% lower than those of Diesel competitors.

EFFICIENT PETROL AND DIESEL POWERTRAINS

Complementing the first full hybrid powertrain in the C-segment wagon market, the Auris Touring Sports will be available with the same petrol and diesel engine range as the Auris hatchback a choice of 1.33 litre Dual VVT-i and 1.6 litre Valvematic petrol engines, improved 1.4 litre and 2.0 litre D-4D diesel engines.

In conjunction with Toyota's Stop & Start technology and an advanced Multidrive S transmission, CO₂ emissions are highly competitive across the entire Auris Touring Sports engine range. The 1.33 and 1.6 litre petrol engines generate 127 and 139 g/km respectively, the 2.0 litre diesel 115 g/km, and the 1.4 litre diesel just 109 g/km.

1.33l Dual VVT-i

Featuring Toyota Stop & Start system, the 1.33 litre petrol engine is equipped with Dual Variable Valve Timing-intelligent (VVT-i) and a high compression ratio of 11.5:1, which increases the thermal efficiency of the engine. It generates 73 kW / 99 DIN hp and maximum torque of 128 Nm at 3,800 rpm.

This excellent dynamic performance is combined with fuel consumption from 5.5 l/100 km and CO₂ emissions from 127 g/km.

The small bore, long stroke unit is exceptionally lightweight and compact, improving the vehicle's power-to-weight ratio. It features a resin-type cylinder head cover and intake manifold, and the intake channel has been streamlined to optimise airflow for improved combustion efficiency.

Dual VVT-i helps boost response levels across the entire rev range by varying the air-fuel intake and exhaust valve timing to suit the conditions at any given time. In addition to improving torque at low and medium engine speeds, the system also reduces emissions and enhances fuel efficiency.

1.6l Valvematic petrol engine

Offering class-leading efficiency, power and torque, Valvematic is a further development of Toyota's highly successful Dual Variable Valve Timing-intelligent (Dual VVT-i) system.

Valvematic takes VVT-i technology a step forward by adding lift and duration control to the inlet valve variable timing. This improves intake airflow volume and speed management -and, subsequently, combustion process management- to deliver more power for less fuel consumption, with reduced CO₂ emissions. The adoption of Valvematic further reduces pumping losses under light engine loads, further lowering fuel consumption.

Valvematic efficiency is further improved through the adoption of a variable length inlet manifold. This acts as an accelerator at low to medium engine speeds, maximising inlet air speed for optimum combustion efficiency.

Available with either a six-speed manual or MultiDrive S automatic transmission, the 1.6-litre Valvematic engine develops 97 kW / 132 DIN hp and a maximum torque of 160 Nm at only 4,400 rpm. When equipped with the manual transmission the unit returns a combined cycle fuel consumption of 6.1 l/100 km and generates CO₂ emissions of only 140 g/km. MultiDrive S transmission reduces both fuel consumption and emissions, to 6.0 l/100 km and 139 g/km respectively.

1.4l D-4D diesel engine

Mated to a six-speed manual transmission, the 1.4 litre D-4D engine develops 66kW / 90 DIN hp and maximum torque of 205 Nm at only 1,800 to 2,800 rpm.

The 1.4 D-4D 90 turbodiesel unit also benefits from Toyota Optimal Drive technology, maximising performance and driveability whilst minimising fuel consumption, and CO₂ and particulate emissions.

Engine warm-up time is minimised through the installation of a new coolant by-pass system that helps to reduce heat losses in engine coolant during start-up.

New generation piezoelectric injectors control the fuel volume and the timing of the injection more accurately. The high speed reaction time of Piezo injectors makes multi-phase high speed injection possible. This has the effect of both lowering the rate of combustion expansion and effecting a more thorough burn within the combustion chamber, thus further reducing particulate, NO_x and CO₂ emissions.

This, allied to higher common rail injection pressures of 160 Mpa, results in shorter injection times, combining a faster engine response with improved fuel economy and reduced CO₂ emissions.

2.0l D-4D diesel engine

Mated to a six-speed manual transmission, the 124 DIN hp 2.0 litre D-4D turbodiesel engine has been extensively revised and now features the Stop & Start system as standard.

The unit features a new variable turbocharger with a lower friction bearing system and an electric actuator. CO₂ emission-reducing lubrication and cooling circuit improvements include a 2-stage pressure oil pump with improved oil jet, an optimised water pump with a reduced flow rate, and a twin-chamber oil pan to improve engine warming speeds.

Exhaust emissions are further lowered through a new glow plug control strategy and improvements to the construction and coating of the DPF.

The use of a resin cylinder head cover, oil cooler bracket and water pipe reduce engine weight by 3kg. The reduction of friction through the adoption of a low friction vacuum pump, a low friction timing chain and low viscosity oil further enhance fuel efficiency. And combustion improvement through a new piston bowl shape and the new glow strategy has perceptibly lowered engine NVH.

As a result, the engine is quieter, torque delivery has improved and CO₂ emissions have been lowered to 115 g/km. Fuel consumption has also fallen, to 4.4 l/100km over the combined cycle.

MultiDrive S

Available on the 1.6 Valvematic petrol version of the new Auris Touring Sports, MultiDrive S is a continuously-variable transmission (CVT) with a fully automatic seamless shift mode or a sequential, stepped 7-speed Sport mode.

In automatic mode, the system is optimised for quietness and fuel economy, precisely matching the transmission to the engine at all times by monitoring accelerator pedal angle, vehicle speed and braking force.

In 7-speed sport sequential shiftmatic mode, the step position can be selected by the selector lever or shift paddle switch. In Sport mode, the system is optimised for response and direct engine control.

Sport mode also features precise cornering control. Upon detecting deceleration, the system downshifts and applies engine braking to assist the braking force. On corner exits, predictive downshift logic controls the system to ensure the optimal gear ratio is selected for required level of acceleration.

GRADE STRATEGY AND EQUIPMENT

The new Toyota Auris Touring Sports will be available in four grades: Live, Active, Style and Lounge. Each grade is clearly differentiated through both equipment specification and exterior and interior styling.

For instance, the high quality dashboard ornament panel is available in a range of six finishes to clearly differentiate between grades metallic black for the Live grade, metallic silver for the Active grade, carbon black for the Style grade and genuine black leather for Lounge grade models. The Auris Hybrid Touring Sports models feature a Metallic ice grey finish for the Active grade and genuine ice grey or black leather for Lounge grade models.

Comprehensive Equipment Specification

Even at Live level, the new Auris Touring Sports' standard equipment specification has been carefully considered to simplify and enhance life on board, with the inclusion of a Follow Me Home headlamp function and Hill Start Assist.

Active grade builds on the Live specification, adding front foglights, a rear sport diffuser (on 1.6 and 2.0 litre engines), air conditioning, Bluetooth connectivity, a height adjustable front passenger seat, a rear centre armrest and the Toyota Touch advanced multimedia system with USB/iPod connectivity and a rear camera.

To the already comprehensive Active specification, the Style grade adds a unique sports seat design and trim, a carbon finish instrument panel, rear privacy glass, scuff plates and 17" alloy wheels.

To the Active standard specification, the Lounge grade adds leather upholstery and trim, rear electric windows, dual-mode air conditioning, dusk, rain and anti-dazzle rear view mirror sensors, cruise control and an adjustable speed limiter (for CVT models), Simple Intelligent Park Assist (SIPA), Smart Entry and Start System and 16" alloy wheels.

A hybrid-specific Active standard specification further includes 15" ECO alloy wheels, LED rear combination lights, a graphite lower front grille, push start, and a unique instrument panel design featuring high grade meters and an LCD multi-information display. To this standard specification, the hybrid-specific Lounge grade adds 17" alloy wheels.

A comprehensive list of advanced, comfort and convenience-enhancing options for the new Auris range will include Bi-HID headlamps, an Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFS), Automatic High Beam (AHB), folding door mirrors, automatic climate control, Smart Entry and Start System, cruise control, a 1,553 mm long by 960 mm wide Skyview panoramic sunroof (one of the largest in the segment), the Toyota Touch and Go, and Touch & Go Plus, navigation systems, a JBL Premium audio system and Simple Intelligent Park Assist (SIPA).

The new Auris Touring Sports maintains Toyota's high standards in active and passive safety, with the aim of achieving a 5-star 2013 Euro NCAP crash test rating. In order to achieve a high level of pedestrian impact performance, a variety of energy absorbing components including the bumper support and lower tray help to minimise collision energy.

The Auris Touring Sports is equipped with ABS with EBD, Brake Assist, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and an emergency brake signal function. It is fitted with driver and front passenger, knee, side and curtain shield SRS airbags.

Toyota Touch

Available from Active grade in the new Auris Touring Sports, Toyota Touch is a 6.1 inch, full colour, touch-screen interface which represents a new approach to affordable, on-board multimedia systems.

It incorporates AM/FM radio with an optional DAB+ receiver, a CD/MP3 player, Bluetooth mobile phone connectivity with a music streaming facility, and an AUX jack and a USB port for the connection of portable music players, with the facility to display iPod album cover art.

Both the hybrid drive system Energy Monitor and fuel consumption information can be displayed, and a rear view camera is fitted as standard.

Upgraded Toyota Touch & Go

Building on the Toyota Touch multimedia base unit, an upgraded Toyota Touch & Go system offers customers a full map navigation system which represents the best value for money on the market, a connectivity booster, and access to online content and apps, including a new Twitter App.

Including all the most popular navigation functions, such as an advanced traffic function with premium information in 10 European countries, and speed and safety camera warnings (where legal), the upgraded navigation system now also features junction view images at intersections, tunnel view images, an automatic zoom function and improved speed camera and speed limit warnings.

The system has been improved to provide a more accurate ETA (estimated time of arrival) and better route selection, using a traffic patterns database (based on collected historical data) that allows it to consider average speeds on road segments en route depending on time, day and month.

In conjunction, the system now includes new traffic functions which provide more relevant feedback and access information useful to the driver regarding the traffic ahead.

Using a compatible mobile phone, via Bluetooth, Toyota Touch & Go also offers on-board connectivity to Google Local Search —the largest and most up-to-date search database in the world.

In addition to the five million points of interests stored in the map database, Toyota Touch & Go also offers, as standard, on-board access to Google Local Search, Yandex and other TBD search engines, using a compatible mobile phone, via Bluetooth.

The installation of Touch & Go also upgrades the multimedia base unit with the addition of an SMS on-screen send and receive function incorporating the contact person image display from the compatible Bluetooth smartphone.

Several Apps are already available to download, including fuel prices, weather and parking space information, and a new Twitter App has been developed to allow Toyota owners to stay in touch with the 500 million Twitter users over the course of their journey.

Unique in the mainstream C-segment, the Twitter App will be available to all vehicles equipped with the Toyota Touch & Go system, from later this year. Users can tweet a range of both personal and system generated templates whilst driving (free text input and URL links are blocked for safety reasons). Because the App is fully integrated into the navigation system, the templates can include destination and ETA information.

Toyota Touch & Go has been designed specifically to be both affordable and flexible. The system can be easily upgraded with the newest functions, updated maps and the latest Apps, as they become available.

Upgraded Toyota Touch & Go Plus

Available on Lounge grade models, Touch & Go Plus adds numerous new, advanced technology features to Toyota's remarkable touch-screen multimedia system.

It features advanced voice recognition for navigation address input, one-shot destination entry, music search and play, and phone contact search and call.

Synchronised with a compatible Bluetooth mobile phone the system can send and receive emails, and display your calendar. It also has a text-to-speech message readout facility for SMS, Emails and traffic messages. The Go Plus further includes a Gracenote database that allows for the precise selection by voice of the various audio files stored on the portable device, as well as a convenient 'Play More Like This' music function. And the upgraded system will now support the multi-tasking of apps.

Enhanced satellite navigation mapping incorporates 3D modelling of major cities and landmarks, where the database is available.

The system includes three years free map and software upgrades, and users can receive the updates either via their local retailer or by visiting my.toyota.eu.

JBL GreenEdge Premium Sound System

The new Auris Touring Sports may be equipped with a 9-speaker JBL Premium Sound System which features GreenEdge technology. GreenEdge technologies are engineered holistically to ensure that the speakers, amplifier, equalization and even component placement work together as a cohesive and efficient system, combining low electricity consumption with high sound quality.

At the heart of the system is a compact, powerful JBL GreenEdge amplifier. Because the amplifier's Tracking Power Technology measures audio input in real time, only the necessary electricity is provided to the amplification circuit. This greatly reduces heat loss, and effects a 50% reduction in current drawn from the vehicle's alternator.

High-efficiency JBL GreenEdge speakers generate twice the sound output levels of conventional speakers for the same power consumption. They feature custom designed acoustic lenses to spread a more powerful sound across an even wider frequency range.

Simple Intelligent Park Assist (SIPA)

Fitted as standard on Lounge grade and an option on Active grade models, the new Auris Touring Sports features Simple Intelligent Park Assist (SIPA) an Easy Set function making it easier and significantly quicker to use.

The system uses a rear camera, and ultrasonic sensors on the front side and rear bumper to identify viable parallel parking spaces. It will then automatically apply the correct sequence of steering angles for the parking manoeuvre into the target space all the driver needs do is control the vehicle's speed.

Toyota created the compact SUV market with the launch of its first Recreational Active Vehicle with 4 Wheel-Drive (RAV4) in 1994. Since then, three generations of RAV4 have sold more than 4.5 million units, of which European markets have accounted for over 1.2 million sales.

Making its European debut at the 2013 Geneva motor show, the new, fourth generation RAV4 reflects the stronger emphasis placed on family use by the compact-SUV market, without sacrificing any of the model's core values.

Rather, it offers customers more distinctive, sophisticated styling, refined, premium-quality interior design, further enhancements to its all-wheel drive capabilities and a more engaging drive.

Design and Packaging

Longer (+205[1] mm), wider (+30 mm) but lower (-25 mm) than its predecessor, the fourth generation of Toyota's compact, versatile SUV showcases an all new silhouette that emphasizes its versatility, roominess and improved dynamic capabilities.

The all-new exterior combines the sophisticated, stylish signature elements of the new Toyota frontal design language with clean, frill-free aesthetics and the muscular image of durability expected from a vehicle with its class-leading four-wheel drive credentials.

The new face of Toyota combines the company's Under Priority grille design with Keen Look headlamp and LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) detailing to give the new SUV a powerful, more dynamic and agile-looking road presence.

Combining a spacious, comfortable cabin with a cockpit-like driver's environment, the all-new interior design build's on the RAV4's inherent practicality with greater roominess, higher quality finishes and a more focused, engaging SUV driving experience.

In keeping with the more cockpit-like driver's environment, the driving position of the new RAV4 has been extensively revised for improved ergonomics, greater comfort, better forward visibility and a more engaging driving experience.

The driver's seat hip point has been lowered by 5 mm and downward seat height adjustment range has been increased by 15 mm to 30 mm. The steering wheel angle has been lowered by 2.3 degrees and it is now closer to the driver by up to 38 mm.

With a front to rear seat couple distance now a best-in-class 970 mm, roominess in the rear seats is now one of the outstanding features of the model. The 60:40 split folding rear seat has been made more comfortable, benefitting from a rise in cushion surface angle of 2 degrees and revised side bolsters for improved support.

The RAV4 retains all the practical, flexible versatility its customers have come to expect from the compact SUV. The rear seats can be folded down flush with the loadspace floor without the need to remove any seat cushions or headrests.

The rear seats may be split 60:40 for maximum flexibility and each section can be reclined independently.

The length of the loadspace has increased to 1,025 mm, raising luggage capacity to 547 litres. Undertray storage has also increased by 51 litres from 49 to 100 litres (with tyre repair kit).

The side-hung tailgate has been replaced by a top-hinged version, which may be equipped with power operation. At 645 mm (with repair kit or temporary tyre), the new tailgate opening boasts a remarkable low loadspace lip height, as well as a wide aperture of 1,158 mm.

Powertrains

Featuring two new engines - a 2.0 litre D-4D diesel for the Western European market and a 2.5 litre VVT-i petrol unit for the Russian market- and with a 2.2 litre D-4D diesel engine now available in Russia for the first time, the new RAV4's comprehensive engine range offers an unmatched balance between outstanding, front- and four-wheel drive performance and class-leading CO₂ emissions in all petrol and diesel variants.

The Western European powertrain line up now comprises a 151 DIN hp (111 kW) 2.0 litre Valvematic petrol engine, a new 124 DIN hp (91 kW) 2.0 litre D-4D diesel, and a powerful 150 DIN hp (110 kW) 2.2 litre D-4D diesel engine.

Every engine in this new line-up benefits from reductions in CO₂ emissions, averaging some 11% across the West European powerplant range.

Of particular note, the 2.0 litre D-4D diesel, front-wheel drive derivative new to the RAV4 range is equipped with Toyota's Stop & Start System technology, reducing CO₂ emission to only 127 g/km.

Driving Performance

Successive generations of RAV4 have established a reputation for their ride comfort, ease of driving, manoeuvrability and reassuring capabilities on even the most challenging of road surfaces.

In conjunction with a new, more comfortable and focused driving position, the new RAV4 builds on these key SUV attributes with retuned front and rear suspension systems, revised Electric Power Steering, and a New Integrated Dynamic Drive System with all-new Sport mode function.

In combination, these developments give the new RAV4 greater stability and agility on both wet and dry roads, offering customers a confidence-inspiring, more intuitive and engaging driving experience.

The Integrated Dynamic Drive System is a sophisticated, high-speed interactive management system which coordinates control of the RAV4's new Dynamic Torque Control AWD, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Electric Power Steering (EPS) systems to enhance the compact SUV's performance, handling and safety.

The Dynamic Torque Control AWD system now automatically transfers torque to the rear wheels not only when the front wheels are beginning to spin on slippery surfaces (as in the third generation RAV4), but also when the system detects understeer during cornering on-road. As a result, the overall agility and driving performance of the vehicle is enhanced during both on- and off-road driving.

When Sport mode is selected, torque transfer to the rear wheels begins even before understeer develops. From the moment the steering wheel is turned, the Dynamic Torque Control AWD System operates a pre-torque control, automatically introducing a 90:10 front/rear torque distribution to help cornering force by transferring traction torque to rear.

The Auris Touring Sports 'Black' design study further illustrates how a wagon body-style can be so much more than just a functional car - by enhancing its already appealing and dynamic design.

The exterior design is highlighted by a Night Sky Black metallic paint finish enhanced by red 19" alloy wheels, red inserts on the front and rear bumpers and a distinctive red trim on the front grille. The 'Sports' aspect is underlined by double chrome exhaust pipes and dark tinted rear LED lights, whilst a premium quality feeling is evident through piano black roof rails and privacy glass.

The black and red colour scheme is carried through to the interior. Black leather and double red stitching is used to enhance the steering wheel, the door panels, the dashboard, the sports seats, the gear shift lever and the handbrake. Red is also the feature colour for the illumination of the instrument panel and the finishing of the air vents and the cup holders. High quality carpeting and exclusive sports leather seats help to deliver a premium feeling.

RAV4 'Premium' and RAV4 'Adventure'

Since its pioneering launch back in 1994, the RAV4's skills and attributes have been appreciated by an ever-increasing group of customers over the last 19 years. Whether driving in the city, or in the countryside whether off-road or on motorway, the RAV4's multifaceted personality has earned it unrivalled popularity in more than 150 countries around the world.

Thanks to this unique legacy, the 4th generation RAV4 was designed to reinforce its off- and on-road capability and build upon its original reputation of a capable, comfortable and enjoyable family car for everyday use.

At the 2013 Geneva Motorshow, this double, but complementary, personality is further illustrated by two design studies that demonstrate the maturity of the new RAV4 in its key role as an everyday multi-purpose vehicle.

RAV4 'Premium' Design Study

The RAV4 'Premium' design study highlights the sophistication of the new RAV4, enhancing its original design with refined ornaments and enhanced finishings. Specifically developed, and extended to the bumpers as well as the body, the "Deep Bronze" colour evokes prestige and refinement, and brings an increased sense of harmony to the whole car's design concept. The front face is distinguished by a horizontally-lined middle grille featuring air intakes and enhanced by LED lights underlined by a stylish chromed spoiler. At the rear, the redesigned bumper adopts a chrome insert, brushed aluminium skid plates and an integrated exhaust pipe design. The 20" alloy wheels are neatly matched to the stylish aluminium roof rails.

Developed by Toyota's 'Kansei'* design department, the luxurious leather upholstery enhances the seat's design and highlights its comfort areas. The combination of new black piping and a refined 'V-outline' reinforce the design of the original seat. Two-tone double stitching is used in several areas to provide a balance between robustness and premium style. The urban grey and black colours of the leather are extended to the instrument and door panels to enhance the premium character of the cabin overall.

RAV4 'Adventure' Design Study

The RAV4 'Adventure' design study accentuates an alternate dimension with a more forceful look to reinforce the RAV4's authentic off-road capabilities.

In this case, the bold Dark Red paint underlines the athletic and strong appearance of the new RAV4. Building upon the new RAV4's muscular proportions (wider and lower than the 3rd generation), the stance of the RAV4 'Adventure' is reinforced by extended wheel arches, designed to accommodate more aggressive 20" alloy wheels.

The front and rear bumpers have been redesigned and finished with matt paint. At the front, the bumper has been redesigned to integrate with a new under-run. And at the rear the bumper has been modified to fully integrate a double exhaust pipe and revised skid plate.

Machined roof rails complete the 'Adventure' look, whilst darker privacy glass adds a sense of mystery to the interior.

Offering a comfortable, enclosed environment for two occupants seated in tandem, the compact TOYOTA i-ROAD Electric Vehicle (EV) features unique, 'Active Lean' technology to provide a safe, intuitive and enjoyable, helmet-free driving experience over a range of up to 50 km* on a single charge.

Committed to reducing energy consumption and the environmental burden attached to transportation, Toyota has been researching and implementing environmentally-friendly mobility solutions for over 40 years in the quest for the ultimate range of eco cars, designed to suit every user profile.

Through the adaption of its Hybrid Synergy Drive^® technology for use in Hybrid Vehicles (HV), Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV), Electric Vehicles (EV) and Fuel Cell Vehicles (FCV), Toyota is paving the way for several types of eco car to coexist in the future.

Whilst HVs, PHEVs and FCVs are ideal for mainstream use over mid to long distances, Toyota believes in the feasibility of EVs as a primary mode of urban transportation for shorter distances. Toyota has more than 10 years experience in the research and development of PMVs.

PMV users require a vehicle that is more comfortable, more weatherproof and safer than a two-wheeler, yet still offers the benefits of low running costs, and the compact dimensions (most notably width) to facilitate the easy parking and urban manoeuvrability associated with two-wheelers such as scooters and motorcycles.

2,350 mm long, 1,445 mm height and with a wheelbase of 1,700 mm, the ultra-compact, three-wheeled TOYOTA i-ROAD's key dimension is a width of only 850 mm, about the same as that of a conventional two-wheeler. This not only equips the TOYOTA i-ROAD with the latter's ability to manoeuvre freely through even the most congested traffic, but also makes it possible to park four of the new Toyota PMVs in a single car parking bay.

The TOYOTA i-ROAD's zero-emission, all-electric powertrain features a lithium-ion battery providing power to a pair of 2 kW electric motors mounted within the front wheels. Combining brisk acceleration with near-silent running, the new Toyota PMV has a range of some 50 km[1], after which it may be fully recharged from a conventional household power outlet in just three hours.

Key to the higher levels of stability, safety, comfort and enjoyment associated with the TOYOTA i-ROAD driving experience is Toyota's new, entirely intuitive 'Active Lean' technology.

The system features a lean actuator motor and gearing mounted above the front suspension member, linked via a yoke to the right and left front wheels. An ECU calculates the required lean based on steering angle, gyro-sensor and vehicle speed information. And the system automatically moves the wheels up and down in opposite directions, applying lean angle to counteract the centrifugal force of cornering.

Offering a minimum turning circle of just 3.0 metres, the system also operates when the Toyota PMV is being driven straight ahead on a stepped surface, the lean actuator automatically compensating for changes in the road surface to keep the body level.

Requiring no specialised driving skills to operate, the Active Lean system offers a unique driving experience with all the enjoyment of two-wheeler riding and without the need for the driver to stabilise the vehicle himself during slow speed manoeuvres, or when stationary.

Because the Active Lean system obviates the need for the driver to lower his feet to the road surface at any time, the TOYOTA i-ROAD may be equipped with a safer, weatherproof, closed body construction.

This not only means that the new Toyota PMV may be driven without a helmet, but also allows for a more car-like on-board environment with the potential to benefit from such features as lighting, heating, an audio system and Bluetooth mobile phone connectivity.

Toyota envisages the TOYOTA i-ROAD's all-electric individual mobility concept playing a significant role in the reduction of both congestion and air pollution within the urban environment.

With commuters using either public transport or conventional private vehicles to travel to urban perimeter transportation hubs, they then transfer to the TOYOTA i-ROAD to complete their journeys and move within the city centre.

Its compact dimensions, manoeuvrability, easy parking, rapid charging and availability in either open or enclosed cabin format make the new Toyota PMV an ideal urban transportation solution designed to reduce both inner city congestion and CO₂, NO_x and particulate emissions without compromising individual freedom of mobility.

Following the global success of the exhilarating, entirely driver-oriented GT86, the FT-86 Open concept has been created to gauge customer reaction to the possible launch of a convertible version of Toyota's remarkable, front 'boxer' engined, rear-wheel drive, compact 2+2 sports car.

The FT-86 Open concept is designed to combine all the lively, accessible performance and highly engaging, readily exploitable dynamic abilities of the GT86 with the even greater levels of driving pleasure derived from open-topped motoring.

4,240 mm long, 1,775 mm wide, 1,270 mm high and with a wheelbase of 2,570 mm, the FT-86 Open concept features a multi-layered fabric roof construction with a glass rear screen.

The concept vehicle retains the GT86's 2+2 seating format, the roof being stowed behind fixed rear seats with minimal impact on luggage capacity.

Using an intense contrast between pure bright white and the modern navy blue, the colour combination has been designed to express the sense of elegant performance, fully reflecting the spirit and the atmosphere of Milan, one of the world leaders in fashion design.

The concept's elegant, white exterior, navy blue fabric roof and pure bright white interior upholstery and trim create a luxurious yet sporting image. Appropriately reflecting the ultimate symbol of sporting success, the carpets are finished in a golden yellow hue.

The FT-86 Open concept's unique colour scheme is further coordinated through the use of a navy blue backing to the upholstery perforation holes and golden yellow accent stitching to the seat leather.

The FT-86 Open concept shares the platform and powertrain of the GT86 the world's first horizontally opposed engine with D-4S injection technology —a 1,998 cc, low centre of gravity, naturally aspirated, high-revving sports engine capable of developing 100 DIN hp per litre- driving the rear wheels via a short throw, 'flick of the wrist' manual gear shift or a 6-speed automatic transmission with the world's fastest paddle shifting speed of only 0.2 seconds.

MacPherson strut front and double wishbone rear suspension systems offer direct handling feel, instant response and superb controllability electric power steering offers a quick, 13.1 gear ratio on a par with that of racing cars and large all-round ventilated disc brakes offer unique pedal feel for car control finesse.

Toyota has identified numerous areas within which further engineering evaluation must be undertaken. Detailed assessment will be required to establish the impact on performance of any changes in vehicle rigidity, balance, weight and aerodynamics.

Because, through the adoption of such features as frameless doors, the GT86 was designed 'package protected' with a cabriolet in mind, the impact on structural rigidity of conversion to an open-topped bodyshell is not expected to be great. Furthermore, various efficient solutions to preserve rigidity are being analysed, such as the use of door lock reinforcements.

The GT86 boasts a near perfect, 53:47 weight distribution for ideal response to even subtle steering, throttle and brake inputs, and an ultra-low centre of gravity of just 460 mm. Whilst the adoption of a fabric roof is likely to have a positive effect on the centre of gravity, lowering it even further, detailed engineering analysis will be required to match the balance of the coupe.

Comprehensive weight saving measures give the GT86 a total vehicle weight of only 1,257 kg, and a resultant power-to-weight ratio of some 160 DIN hp per tonne. The best possible power-to-weight ratio being fundamental to performance in a vehicle with a relatively small capacity engine, engineering a cabriolet as 'weight-neutral' relative to the coupe represents a key area of study in the event of the project progressing to fruition.

The initial concept behind the new design 'The Wave' is inspired by the traditional Japanese paper craft, 'Origami'. Whilst embracing an extremely simple look, the form is defined by a series of dynamic curves, giving the stand strength and vibrancy, and at the same time warmth and familiarity.

Based on this concept, the new stand at Geneva adopts an advanced 3-dimensional architecture, which is completely different from typical motor show stands visitors are used to seeing — creating intrigue and attracting people to explore and learn more about Toyota.

This new stand design will ensure that consumers around the world enjoy a consistent brand experience. At the same time, Toyota wants to respect its key principle of adapting solutions to regional preferences, and will therefore give each region the possibility of adapting the stand design to local needs.

FT-86 Open concept

The Toyota FT-86 Open concept is an exciting sneak preview of a possible future variant of the award-winning GT86. Auris Touring Sports

Following its preview at the Paris Motor Show, the Auris Touring Sports will make its world premiere at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, where full specifications, dimensions and performance data will be revealed.

Combining versatility and dynamic design with superior luggage capacity and segment-unique full hybrid technology, the new Auris Touring Sports is set to become the new point of reference in the medium-sized wagon segment.

The premiere of the new Auris Touring Sports will be supported by one design study — the Auris Touring Sports 'Black'.

RAV4

Making its European motor show debut, the new 4th-generation RAV4 builds upon its pioneering heritage to reflect the stronger emphasis placed on family use by the segment's customers, without sacrificing any of the model's core values.

The new RAV4 offers distinctive styling, refined premium-quality interior design, greater efficiency and further enhancements to its all-wheel drive system for a more engaging drive.

The debut of the new RAV4 will be supported by two design studies — the RAV4 'Premium' and the RAV4 'Adventure'.
