Larger and more versatile, it is designed for family travel and those who enjoy outdoor lifestyles and a sense of adventure.

Benefiting from Toyota’s great SUV heritage, it demonstrates the brand’s commitment to creating battery electric models that are designed for car lovers. This not just another BEV, but one that is built for authentic off-road performance, inspiring confidence and rewarding the driver wherever their journey or adventure might take them.

The distinctive bZ4X design is given a more powerful and rugged edge with new details, including redesigned bumpers, skid plates and wheel arch trims, plus purposeful black wheels. The Touring’s increased length is dedicated to providing a bigger load compartment – volume increased by almost 50% compared to the bZ4X. That means there is plenty of space inside for luggage and sports and leisure kit while even more can be carried on the robust roof rails or a towed trailer.

Front and all-wheel drive versions are offered, both using a 74.7 kWh battery. The AWD model takes bZ4X Touring performance to higher level, equipped with a more powerful rear eAxle to deliver 280 kW / 380 DIN hp – a new high for a non-sports Toyota model. Secure progress through mud, snow and challenging conditions in the AWD version is supported by the X-MODE and Grip Control systems.

The bZ4X Touring has a highly efficient powertrain, with a homologated energy consumption (WLTP combined cycle) of only 14.0 kWh per 100 kilometres (FWD model). The BEV system delivers a driving range of up to 591 km (FWD model) while Toyota’s battery pre-conditioning system and battery temperature control functions enable a 10-80% charge to be accomplished in 28 minutes using a DC 150 kW power supply. Even in very cold temperatures, as low as
-20°C, the charging time is around 30 minutes when the battery pre-conditioning has been used.

The quality, durability and reliability of the battery are reflected in Toyota’s Battery Care Program which guarantees it will maintain a minimum 70% of its capacity for up to 10 years of vehicle age or up to one million kilometres driven, subject an annual battery health check*.

SPACE: A DEFINING QUALITY

bZ4X Touring’s greater length increases load compartment volume by almost 50%

Generous, easily accessible space ready to accommodate a family’s luggage, sports equipment, camping kit and more

Roof rails and up to 1,500 kg towing capacity available when even more needs to be carried

The bZ4X Touring fulfils its promise as a car that’s practical for family travel and outdoor adventure with its extended load compartment.

From the C-pillar back, the vehicle’s length has increased by 140 mm compared to the regular bZ4X, space that’s dedicated to providing more room for luggage, sports kit, camping equipment or children’s buggies. Compared to the bZ4X, the boot’s opening size (width and height) is also greater, by 21 and 23 mm respectively. With the rear seats in place, there’s 669 litres available – 48% more capacity than the bZ4X and among the largest in the model’s segment. Flat-fold the 60:40 seats and there’s up to a maximum 1,718 litres.

Toyota has also made sure this space is easy to access with a larger, power-operated back door and a rear-seat folding release lever in the load compartment. There are pairs of bag hooks, deck hooks and lights and the retracting tonneau cover can be stored beneath the deck floor when not required.

Although there is no increase in cabin height, rear-seat passengers enjoy more comfortable, open headspace with the roof line having a consistent height rather than sloping rearward over the load compartment, as in the regular bZ4X.

The load-carrying ability goes well beyond what can be stowed inside the car. The robust roof rails can carry up to 80 kg when travelling and are compatible with a wide range of Toyota racks and storage boxes.

There’s further flexibility with the bZ4X Touring be able to tow loads up to 1,500 kg in AWD form, 750 kg in FWD format.

BEV DESIGN THAT BROADCASTS A RUGGED QUALITY

Cool and contemporary Toyota BEV styling infused with a more rugged feel

Redesigned bumpers, front and rear skid plates and grain-textured wheel arch trims

Strong roof rails provided as standard

Cabin design shared with the bZ4X

The bZ4X Touring gains a series of design details that express the more rugged character and capabilities that set it apart from other electric vehicles.

It is instantly recognisable as a Toyota BEV with the signature hammerhead frontal shape, given added emphasis by lighting and a black styling line that underscore the bonnet’s leading edge. The lower bumper and bumper edges are specific to the Touring, combining with a skid plate to project a stronger, more purposeful stance. This effect is further enhanced by a grained finish to the wheel arch trims.

A similar effect is created at the rear, again with the introduction of a redesigned bumper and addition of a skid plate. The back of the vehicle presents a simple, clean surface with a slim light bar that extends beyond the width of the tailgate to wrap around into the rear wings.

The wheels are 18-inch alloys with full resin wheel caps and 20-inch alloys, both with a matt black finish – another distinguishing feature of the Touring model. The exterior paintwork is monotone with a choice of six colours, selected to suit the model’s “adventure” profile, in particular a new Brilliant Bronze metallic. Robust black roof rails and rear screen wiper – positioned to ensure a clear sightline for the High grade model’s digital rear-view mirror – are provided as standard.

Inside, the cabin layout matches the bZ4X with the central feature of an ultra-slim instrument panel with a horizontal design that amplifies a sense of space and openness. The open feel is increased in the High grade model which features a one-piece panoramic roof as standard. A new City Moss interior colour option is exclusive to the model, reflecting its “outdoor adventure” profile.

The driver enjoys a commanding view of the vehicle’s surroundings and a direct view of the instrument display, positioned above the level of the steering wheel. The digital combimeter includes BEV-specific data, including battery health and state of charge, charging performance and time remaining to reach 80% SoC when charging.

The 14-inch multimedia screen occupies a prominent central position while the centre console forms an independent “digital island”, housing the dial-type shift selector and twin wireless device chargers for the driver and front passenger. For rear seat passengers, the rear of the console provides air vents and two 60W USB charging ports.

BATTERY ELECTRIC POWERTRAIN

BEV powertrain provides strong performance appropriate for the bZ4X Touring’s adventure profile

Front-wheel drive model shares the bZ4X’s system with 74.7 kWh battery and front eAxle, delivering 165 kW / 224 DIN hp and 268.6 Nm of torque

All-wheel drive version adds a 167 kW rear eAxle to give total output of 280 kW / 380 DIN hp

Battery temperature management and pre-conditioning system help secure 10-80% DC charging in about 28 minutes, even in very cold temperatures

Peace of mind of Toyota’s battery guarantee of 70% of original capacity maintained up to one million kilometres driven / 10 years*

The bZ4X Touring’s powertrain provides the muscle to match its rugged profile. True to Toyota’s commitment to giving its BEV customers choices to suit their needs and preferences, both front and all-wheel drive versions are offered.

The FWD version shares a powertrain with its bZ4X counterpart, equipped with a lithium-ion battery pack with a 74.7 kWh capacity (gross) and a front electric motor producing 165 kW / 224 DIN hp and 268.6 Nm of torque. That sufficient to enable 0-100 km/h in 7.3 seconds and a driving range of up to 591 km.

The AWD option takes performance a higher level with its rear eAxle delivering equal power to the front motor – 167 kW. As a result, the bZ4X Touring is the most powerful and fastest-accelerating Toyota BEV, delivering a maximum 280 kW / 380 DIN hp and capable of moving from rest to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds. More significant than outright speed is the powertrain’s strength to tackle rougher terrain, in the best traditions of Toyota SUVs, and to achieve a driving range of up to 528 km on a full charge.

Adding to its appeal as highly capable vehicle for outdoor lifestyles, the bZ4X Touring AWD can tow up to 1,500 kg; maximum for the FWD version is 750 kg.

4.5

Efficient and powerful eAxles

The eAxles are compact and lightweight units, first introduced in the new bZ4X in 2025. They incorporate the principal electric drive components – transaxle, motor-generator and inverter – in a single, space-saving housing. The front and rear units each have a specific design appropriate for their location in the vehicle. Thus, the low profile of the rear eAxle avoids taking space away from the load compartment.

A comprehensive technical upgrade to enhance performance and efficiency increased the eAxles’ output while reducing energy consumption, helping the bZ4X – and now the Touring model – extend their potential driving range. A key contributor to achieving this was the adoption of new silicon carbide (SiC) semiconductors in the inverter. Compared to the previous silicon type used in the first generation bZ4X, these are more efficient in handling high voltages, operating at high temperatures and delivering higher outputs.

Lithium-ion battery

The lithium-ion battery unit has 104 cells and a maximum gross capacity of 74.7 kWh (71 kWh net). This battery is used in both the FWD and AWD bZ4X Touring versions.

Fast, consistent charging

The battery benefits from design and technology features that ensure prompt, consistent charging performance across a wide range of ambient temperatures.

A battery pre-conditioning system is key to reducing charging times, particularly in cold conditions. When engaged, pre-conditioning brings the battery to optimum temperature for the start of charging. This enables to a DC 150 kW fast charge from 10 to 80% to be accomplished in as little as 28 minutes, across an outdoor temperature range from -10 to +20°C. Even in very cold conditions (-20°C), the charging time from 10 to 80% remains consistent around 30 minutes.

Pre-conditioning will operate automatically when a charging point is set as a destination in the car’s navigation system. Alternatively, it can be activated manually by the driver via the Toyota SmartConnect + multimedia system, or scheduled to operate at preferred/convenient time.

Depending on grade, the bZ4X Touring is equipped either with a 11 kW or 22 kW onboard charger; charging from 10-100% using an AC will take around 7 or 3.5 hours (11/22 kW).

Consistent battery performance is further supported by cooling and heating systems. The battery cooling is energy-efficient, using coolant from the car’s air conditioning system and operating with even performance across all the cells. Likewise, the heating system provides uniform warming with consistent performance, even in very low ambient temperatures, helping reduce charging times.

Key information on battery performance is presented in the driver’s multi-information display, including current (real-time) charging power, the time remaining to reach 80% state-of-charge and the remaining driving range. Data are updated in real time, based on the car’s energy consumption during each journey.

Efficient journey planning with EV routing

With EV routing, the driver can programme a journey in the car’s navigation system that provides recommended charging locations, based on the battery’s state of charge and remaining driving range. It is a dynamic function, so automatically updates the recommendations in real time, taking the car’s actual energy consumption into account during the drive.

Peace of mind guarantee*

In common with all new Toyota battery electric vehicles, the bZ4X Touring comes with long lasting battery quality, durability and reliability guaranteed. Toyota’s Battery Care Program covers battery performance for up to 10 years of vehicle age or up to one million kilometres driven, subject an annual battery health check.

*Toyota’s confidence in the quality of the battery is reflected in a guarantee it will retain at least 70% of its capacity up to 10 years of vehicle age, covered by the original EV Manufacturing Warranty until 8 years of vehicle age or 160,000 kilometres, and with the Battery Care Program up to 10 years of vehicle age or 1 million kilometres driven that is activated by an annual EV health check (terms and conditions and local country conditions apply).

Paddle shifts for regeneration boost-linked deceleration

Paddle shifts are provided on the steering wheel for the driver to select their preferred level of regenerative boost control. Four levels are available, which can compensate for up to about 80% of the deceleration required, significantly reducing the need to use the brake pedal and making driving easier and smoother. Coming off the accelerator pedal produces smooth deceleration with a natural feel.

DRIVING DYNAMICS

Toyota eTNGA modular EV platform provides high body rigidity, low centre of gravity and responsive vehicle dynamics

bZ4X Touring adopts additional measures to secure rigidity, appropriate for its increased length

Suspension, steering and braking systems common to all bZ4X models

The bZ4X Touring, like its sister model, is constructed on Toyota’s eTNGA modular architecture, developed specifically for BEVs. This provides the essential qualities of a highly rigid body, a low centre of gravity and responsive, controllable vehicle dynamics.

Taking the extended length of the Touring model into account, adjustments have been made to ensure a high level of rigidity is maintained. A rear ring frame has been introduced with an enlarged cross section – made possible by the increase in the rear overhang. A frame supporting the C and D pillars is connected to the platform, which further helps suppress vibration. The arrangement also secures a good diagonal rearward view for the driver.

The suspension system is unchanged with MacPherson struts at the front and rear double wishbones. Likewise, the well-proven braking system and electric power steering are shared with the established bZ4X model.

ALL-WHEEL DRIVE AND OFF-ROAD PERFORMANCE

Authentic off-road driving capability appropriate for the bZ4X Touring’s rugged profile

X-MODE adjusts vehicle settings for different driving conditions

Grip Control and Downhill Assist Control systems control vehicle speed

Accurate vehicle positioning with Multi-Terrain Monitor and Panoramic View Monitor

Enhanced all-wheel drive control system

Snow mode provided on the bZ4X Touring front-wheel drive model

The bZ4X set new standards for a BEV in delivering authentic off-road performance. The Touring model carries forward the intelligent technology that enables the vehicle to take rougher and slippery surfaces in its stride, giving it sure-footed performance that delivers on the promise of its more rugged and purposeful profile.

X-MODE provides selectable settings that adjust vehicle performance to suit different driving conditions: mud or snow; deep mud and snow at speeds below 20 km/h; and in tougher off-road conditions using Grip Control, at less than 10 km/h.

Using X-MODE with Grip Control allows the driver to concentrate on accurate steering while the system controls vehicle speed, whether travelling downhill, uphill or on level ground. On downhill slopes, the driver can also use the car’s Downhill Assist Control for a similar level of assistance.

The bZ4X Touring can also wade through water to a depth of 500 mm.

Multi-Terrain Monitor and Panoramic View Monitor

A Multi-Terrain Monitor (MTM) and Panoramic View Monitor (PVM), standard with AWD, are available to help the drive judge the conditions when travelling off-road. The MTM uses four cameras that provide a real-time view of the area immediately around the car, eliminating blind spots. There is also an under-vehicle view to help the driver check the position of the rear wheels and the road surface.

When using X-MODE, a seamless image is presented showing the under-floor view and dual side views; the information includes an inclinometer and the angle of vehicle pitch and roll.

The Panoramic View Monitor helps with precise parking and manoeuvres and, like the MTM, provides an under-floor view option. The system can also be operated using voice commands.

Enhanced all-wheel drive control

The all-wheel drive control system has been revised, improving performance on rough and low-grip surfaces.

Conventional control adjusts the distribution of drive force between the front and rear axles according to the relative speed of the front and rear wheels and the car’s turning angle. The system has been enhanced so that the speed difference between the left and right wheels is also taken into account. This makes for a more compose ride over uneven surfaces and greater stability when driving on snow.

Optimising the front-rear drive force balance also increases traction and stability when using the vehicle’s regeneration boost for deceleration.

Front-wheel drive with Snow mode

The front-wheel drive bZ4X Touring is engineered to support the driver on slippery surfaces with a Snow mode. Suitable for driving on snow-covered roads and other low-grip surfaces, it controls drive torque to help achieve smooth, secure starts, reducing the risk of wheel-slip. The mode is engaged using a switch next to the drive controller.

TOYOTA T-MATE SAFETY AND DRIVER ASSISTANCE

Comprehensive package of active safety and driver assistance systems

Latest generation Toyota Safety Sense features

Over-the-air software updates provide convenient, seamless delivery of the latest system developments

The bZ4X Touring benefits from a comprehensive Toyota T-Mate package of driver support and safety features, including an extended Toyota Safety Sense package.

The preventive safety systems can detect a wider range of accident risk scenarios in everyday driving, alert the driver and initiate drive force, steering and braking assistance if needed to help avoid a collision or mitigate the effects if an impact cannot be avoided.

For example, making a left or right turn across the flow of traffic at a busy intersection presents hazards not just from oncoming and crossing traffic, but also from pedestrians or cyclists crossing the road you are turning into. The Pre-Collision System (PCS) monitors the road for these hazards, warning the driver or initiating emergency braking if there’s an imminent risk of an impact.

A pedestrian stepping off the kerb, or a vehicle stranded on the roadside can prompt the driver to swerve. The PCS provides Emergency Steering Assist, helping steer around the hazard while keeping the car stable and within its traffic lane. The system also recognises when there’s a risk of a collision from sudden, sharp acceleration during low-speed driving, automatically regulating the driving force and providing braking control.

Even a brief loss of concentration can cause a car to wander off-course; with Lane Trace Assist, the vehicle will keep to its correct path, guided by the markings on the road, the road margin or the vehicle ahead. The system will co-operate with the Full-Range Adaptive Cruise Control, so the vehicle’s speed is safely adjusted when travelling through a highway bend. It also keeps an eye on the driver’s use of the steering wheel, brakes and accelerator pedal: if they are not used for a certain amount of time, it will initiate an Emergency Driving Stop System.

Safe Exit Assist helps avoid the common risk of inadvertently opening a car door into the path of a vehicle, cyclist or pedestrian approaching from the rear. It uses the car’s Blind Spot Monitor to scan the road and flash a warning should driver or passenger be about to open the door and risk a collision.

With Proactive Driving Assist, the bZ4X Touring is able to scan the road ahead calculate collision risks and operate the brakes and steering at an early stage to help prevent an accident. This can be, for example, a person or cyclist close to the edge of the road or about to cross, or a vehicle ahead.

The bZ4X Touring also benefits additional Toyota Safety Sense features: Lane Change Assist to support smooth highway overtaking and Front Cross-Traffic Alert for detecting vehicles approaching from either side at junctions. A Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert and a Parking Support Brake that can recognise static obstacles, pedestrians and vehicles when making low-speed parking manoeuvres are also standard.

Over-the-air software updates ensure the latest developments are delivered seamlessly, without the owner having to take their vehicle to a workshop.

toyota news,2025 bZ4X Touring

These are key qualities for customers seeking a car that meets the demands of an active lifestyle or can serve as spacious and flexible family-size transport.

As an authentic SUV, the new bZ4X Touring allows customers to choose an electric vehicle without having to compromise their lifestyle thanks to more space and versatility, combined with fast charging throughout the year, generous driving range and powerful motors.

The bZ4X Touring will further strengthen Toyota’s comprehensive coverage of the key B, C and D electric SUV market categories, joining the all-new Urban Cruiser and Toyota C-HR+ and the new, revised bZ4X in its battery electric vehicle line-up. All sharing the well-defined DNA of Toyota’s BEV models: true AWD-capacity, SUV body types and the brand’s renowned quality, durability and reliability (QDR). With a range of battery options and the choice of front or all-wheel drive across all these models, Toyota has solutions to suit a great spectrum of customer requirements and preferences, be it performance, cost efficiency, or – with the new bZ4X Touring – a vehicle that’s perfectly tailored for busy family life.

Focus on space

Toyota has created the bZ4X Touring with a seamless extension of the established bZ4X’s SUV body style. It is 140 mm longer and 20 mm higher overall (total figures 4,830 mm and 1,670 mm respectively), dimensions that increase the load compartment capacity by more than a third – an extra 148 litres – to 600 litres*.

It maximises the space-saving opportunities offered by Toyota’s BEV powertrain, with compact components and a layout that avoid intrusion in both the cabin and the load space.

The bZ4X Touring has the carrying capacity for a family’s holiday luggage, or for all kinds of leisure and sporting equipment. A 40:60 flexible rear seat arrangement means it is simple and easy to extend the space available when required.

Powertrain and performance

The new bZ4X Touring follows Toyota’s principle of offering a BEV-lineup that provides a breadth of choice for the customer, with both front and all-wheel drive versions available. The AWD option with Toyota’s intelligent XMODE drive control technology and Grip Control gives true AWD capabilities and provides the peace of mind of extra traction and surefooted performance on rougher or looser surfaces – just the kind of roads that might be encountered on a family adventure.

Both are equipped with a 74.7 kWh (gross capacity) lithium-ion battery and – depending on grade – either a 11kW or a 22 kW onboard charger. Maximum fast-charging capacity (DC) is around 150 kW.

The battery features Toyota’s latest advances in improving performance and charging times. It incorporates the new water cooling system and preconditioning function recently introduced in new bZ4X, which the driver can activate either manually, or automatically by navigating to a fast-charging station, to ensure the battery is at optimum temperature when charging starts. This is particularly useful in colder climates.

The targeted maximum output for the front-wheel drive model is 224 DIN hp/165 kW*; for the all-wheel drive bZ4X Touring it’s 380 DIN hp/280 kW*, making the model the most powerful Toyota BEV on the market.

The powertrain benefits from Toyota’s new eAxle. Using new silicon carbide (SIC) semiconductors, these operate with greater efficiency and produce higher power, while also being lighter and more compact.

As well as extra horsepower, the bZ4X Touring can tow trailers up to 1,500 kg, adding to the SUV’s credentials as a highly capable and capacious vehicle.

Further performance data will be released nearer the time of market introduction.

Peace of mind battery guarantee

In common with all Toyota’s new BEVs, the bZ4X will come with long-lasting battery quality, durability and reliability guaranteed. Toyota’s Battery Care Program covers the battery each year for up to 10 years of vehicle age or up to one million kilometres driven, subject to an annual battery health check**

Presenting a more rugged look

While the bZ4X projects a sleek and high-tech look, the Touring’s spacious, estate-like body adopts a series of styling details that emphasise a more rugged and adventurous spirit, such as a grained black finish for the wheel arches, black wheels and robust roof rails. Another Touring-unique feature is the roof rails, making it even easier to transport sports equipment or long loads allowing for 70 kg roof load.

The principal changes are at the extended rear section of the car, with a new lower bumper design and LED combination lamps that have a more modern, “outdoor” look. The monotone exterior colours will include a new Brilliant Bronze.

Inside, the cabin features a new design similar to the new bZ4X: A new centre console for easy use of digital devices and instrument panel design, with a 14-inch multimedia screen fitted as standard. The interior finish will include a new City Moss upholstery colour, in tune with the model’s authentic SUV character.

The multimedia system provides a BEV navigation function supporting the driver to choose a route and charging points based on the car’s battery state of charge and remaining driving range.

The bZ4X Touring is scheduled for introduction in Europe in the spring of 2026. Further vehicle data will be released nearer the time of market introduction.

2025 bZ4X Touring
