Toyota Motor Europe (TME)

• Mr. Gerald Killmann, currently Senior Vice President, R&D and Purchasing, TME, will be appointed as Senior Vice President, R&D, Purchasing and Fuel Cell Business, TME.
• Mr. Thiebault Paquet, currently Head of Powertrain, R&D2, and concurrently assigned to Head of Fuel Cell Business at TME has been promoted to Vice President, R&D2, concurrently assigned to Head of Fuel Cell Business, TME.

• Mr. Tom Fux, will be promoted to SVP of Sales at TME. In this new role, Mr. Fux will oversee Sales, Marketing, Value Chain & Customer Experience for both the Toyota & Lexus brands.

• Mr. Miguel Fonseca, will be taking on new responsibilities as CEO KINTO Europe, replacing Mr. Tom Fux. In this role he will be dually assigned as TME SVP for Connected Technologies & Mobility.

• Ms. Kylie Jimenez, will be promoted to SVP People & Innovation, Information, Technology & Digital and Corporate Affairs at TME, taking over from Mr. Miguel Fonseca.

• Mr. Tatsuya Namura, will be assigned as Vice President Government Affairs, European Corporate Communication and Environment, Social & Governance at TME. 

• Mr. Andrea Carlucci, will be promoted to Vice President Product and Marketing Management, to lead the expansion of TME’s European electrification plan, succeeding Mr. Tatsuya Namura.

• Mr. Simon McDermott, will be promoted to Vice President People & Innovation, taking over from Ms. Kylie Jimenez, to lead the company’s efforts in terms of People Development and our Diversity, Equity & Inclusivity acceleration.

Overview

Replacing Dr. van Zyl, current Executive Vice President of TME, Matt Harrison, will be appointed President and CEO, TME, and Chief Executive Officer, Europe Region for TMC. British born, Matt Harrison first joined Toyota Great Britain in 2000 and held several executive posts in Europe, including Director of Lexus Europe from 2008; Managing Director, Toyota Great Britain from 2013; Vice President for Sales and Marketing (2015) and Executive Vice President (2019) of TME.

Toyota’s European operations have excelled over the past six years, delivering sustained business results. TME sales – led by Matt Harrison (including Toyota and Lexus), passed the one-million mark in 2019 for the first time in 10 years and topped 6% market share in 2020, including improving the sales revenue and mix to enhance profit and reduce CAFE emissions.

Under Dr. van Zyl’s strategic and operational leadership, TME expanded the Hybrid line up to lead the European CO2 emissions, enhanced localisation with more production and products in Russia, Poland, Turkey and France; additional investments in new vehicle platforms (Toyota New Global Architecture) in the UK and other plants; and the transfer of ownership of the Kolin, Czech Republic joint-venture plant with PSA Peugeot Citroën to sole Toyota ownership last January. This was achieved while delivering sustainable profitability in the region.

Matt Harrison will now lead the on-going transformation of Toyota in Europe from an automotive to a mobility company – focusing on achieving TME’s business plan of 1.4 million sales by 2025 including the launch of 10 battery electric vehicles (BEV), at least five plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV), the continued expansion of hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) sales, and a diversification into mobility services with the KINTO brand.

Toyota Motor Europe (TME)

• Mr. Marvin Cooke, currently SVP Manufacturing and concurrently assigned as President, TMMF, will be promoted to EVP Manufacturing at TME. In his new role, Mr. Cooke will oversee the operations at all Toyota plants across Europe, the Toyota Production System, Logistics, Production Control and Production Engineering.

• Mr. Katsutoshi Nishimoto, currently Lead Coordinating Executive Manufacturing at TME, concurrently assigned as VP Toyota Production System at TME, will be promoted to SVP EMCs and Manufacturing Support at TME, where he will have responsibility over the Toyota Production System, Toyota plants in Europe, as well as Health & Safety activities.

• Ms. Kylie Jimenez will be appointed as VP People & Innovation at TME, replacing Mr. Frank Okoisor who has earlier been appointed as CEO of Toyota Connected Europe whilst being dually assigned as VP Connected Technologies at TME. Ms. Jimenez comes from Toyota Latin America & Caribbean (TLAC) where she held the position of HR & Administration Regional Officer, and brings over 20 years of experience in Human Resources.

• Mr. Thiebault Paquet, currently Director Research and Development, Powertrain, at TME will be dually assigned as Director of the new Fuel Cell Business in Europe, established to accelerate Toyota’s vision to establish a Hydrogen Society. The new Fuel Cell Business will consolidate Toyota’s European hydrogen activities in the areas of Sales, Research & Development and Manufacturing.

Toyota Motor Europe (TME) Organisation Changes

All activities related to new mobility, connected car and multimedia will be consolidated in the newly established Toyota Mobility & Connected Car Function, led by Vice President, Mr. Agustin Martin (concurrently assigned as President, Toyota España S.A.).

In addition to the above, a new Group, called Fleet Mobility Solutions will be established. Its aim is to ensure a one-stop service for customers, providing a seamless Pan-European experience. This new group will be led by Director, Mr. Tom Fux.

They will both report directly to Mr. Hiroaki Nanahara, Executive Vice President, Sales, TME.

• After 7 years as Executive Vice President, Research & Development, Purchasing and PE, TME, Mr. Masahisa Nagata will return to TMC. He will be replaced by Mr. Kiyohito Morimoto from TMC.

Today, Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) officially appointed Didier Leroy as President of Toyota N°1 at TMC. The appointment took place at the 111th General Shareholders meeting.

In this responsibility, Mr Leroy will oversee the RandD, manufacturing and sales operations for the North America, Europe and Africa regions the Japan Sales Business Group and the Product Planning, Design and Motorsports functions related to the Toyota No.1 regional scope. He also became today the first non-Japanese Executive Vice President of TMC, as well as member of the Board of Directors of TMC.

This appointment takes place after the announcement made by TMC in March about changes to its executive structure in Japan, altering roles of top management. Mr Leroy will be based in Brussels.

Monica joined Toyota Motor Europe as Network Development Manager in 2005.

In 2007, she moved to Toyota Spain where she held a succession of leading roles as General Manager Customer Processes, General Manager Lexus Customer Experience & After Sales, and then General Manager Dealer Development.

She returned to Toyota Motor Europe in 2016 as General Manager Digital Centre of Excellence and was promoted to Director Customer Experience in 2018. Monica was appointed Director Sustainability and ESG Management in 2020, and in 2022, she was promoted to Vice President Corporate Affairs & Sustainability. In June 2025, Monica assumed the role of Vice President of Sustainability, dedicating her expertise and experience to shaping effective strategies in this critical area.

Before joining Toyota Motor Europe in 2005, Monica experienced various positions in consulting firms such as Accenture and Urban Science.

With over 25 years of experience in the automotive industry and consulting, Monica combines her solid hands-on experience with a profound knowledge of the automotive business. Her achievements are in the areas of strategic development, customer experience, business and digital transformation and sustainability.

In 2016, Automotive News recognised Monica as one of the top 25 leading women in the European automotive industry. Furthermore, Monica was selected by the Automotive News Europe as one of the Eurostar 2023 award winners for her leadership in Toyota Motor Europe's sustainability integration from the corporate, social and communication perspectives.

Monica was born in Madrid (Spain) and graduated from Comillas Pontifical University in Madrid (ICADE E-3) with a dual degree in Law, Business Administration and Management. 

She is married with two children and in her spare time enjoys family life, reading and travelling.

Andrea began his career in automotive industry in 1997.

By 1999, he moved to Toyota Motor Italia as a regional sales manager. While there, he held various positions in marketing including product, pricing and brand management.

From 2006 to 2009 he assumed various roles at Toyota Motor Europe before he returned to Italy as head of marketing. In 2013 he was dually assigned as head of the Lexus business unit.

In January 2015 Andrea was appointed managing director of Toyota Motor Italia, leading the company until the end of 2017 with increasing sales and strong economic results. In January 2018 he returned to Toyota Motor Europe as marketing director, and as from April 2019 as head of Product and Marketing Management Division.

In July 2021, he was promoted to Vice President Product and Marketing Management, to lead the expansion of TME’s European electrification plan

Andrea graduated at LUISS of Rome, and holds an MBA from Istituto Tagliacarne, Rome.

He is married and has two children. In his spare time, he likes riding his motorbike and swimming.

Mr Koreatsu Aoki, 54, will be appointed President of Toyota Motor Manufacturing France effective January 6^th. Mr Aoki started at TMC in 1983 and is currently General Manager of the Honsha Plant Administration Division at Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) in Japan. Prior to that, Mr Aoki spent five years at Toyota Engineering and Manufacturing, North America (TEMA) where he was Senior Vice President, Production Control & Logistics. His previous assignments included positions in Project Planning, in Production Control at TMC, and a prior assignment at Toyota Motor Manufacturing, UK from 1990 to 1994.

Mr Aoki is succeeding Mr Makoto Sano, 56, who has been serving as President of TMMF since 2009. Mr Sano will stay on as Chief Coordinating Executive until his return to TMC in Japan in early February.Mr Luciano Biondo, 43, will be appointed Senior Vice President, Manufacturing effective January 6^th. Mr Biondo is being hired into this position from PSA Peugeot Citroen where he was the head of the Peugeot Mulhouse plant. Prior to this, Mr Biondo was the head of the PSA Tranava plant in Slovakia. Before joining the PSA group in 2006, he had a 6-year experience at TMMF.

Note to editors: TMMF is the home of the Toyota Yaris and Yaris Hybrid. Established in 1999, TMMF started production in 2001 and has since produced more than 2.4 million Yaris for the European market and other export destinations, including North America since May 2013. TMMF produced 200,805 Yaris in calendar year 2012.

Mr Toshiaki Yasuda, 53, currently President of Toyota Deutschland GmbH, will take up an assignment at Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) in Japan after completing a four-year assignment at TDG.

Mr Ulrich Selzer, 49, will be appointed to a position in Corporate Planning at Toyota Motor Europe's headquarters in Brussels, following six years as Managing Director of TDG.

After more than 32 years with TDG, Mr Lothar Feuser, 62, currently Managing Director of TDG, will retire. TME would like to thank Mr Feuser for his career and contributions to Toyota Germany.

Following these changes, two new executives will be appointed as follows:

Mr Masaki Hosoe, 54, will be appointed Chairman of TDG. Mr Hosoe was recently occupying the position of General Manager, Africa Division at Toyota Motor Corporation in Japan (TMC). Having joined TMC in 1982, Mr Hosoe occupied various positions in his career including in Sales Planning, and at Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc.

Mr Tom Fux, 40, currently Director of Sales at Toyota Motor Europe, will be appointed President of TDG. Before joining TME in 2008 as General Manager in Sales Planning. Mr Fux was Managing Director at Toyota Adria from 2003 to 2007.

Mr Eiji Takeichi is appointed Vice President, Strategic Production Planning and Production & Logistics Control , TME. This function coordinates current and future production planning and all logistics (parts and completed vehicles) for the manufacturing sites of Toyota in Europe. Mr Takeichi joined Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) in 1987. He replaces Mr Takanobu Kubo, who is returning to TMC.

He subsequently joined Toyota Motor Corporation Japan in 2001 to work as Development Engineer on calibration of engines and on the development of after treatment control strategies. Later, when back in TME, he worked on the development of gasoline hybrid powertrains. From 2009 to 2016 he was General Manager of Powertrain for Toyota Europe, responsible for Engine calibration, pre-development and simulation development methodologies.

In 2019 he became Director Research and Development, Powertrain, at TME and since July 2020 he was dually assigned as Director of the new Fuel Cell Business in Europe, established to accelerate Toyota’s vision to establish a Hydrogen Society. The new Fuel Cell Business will consolidate Toyota’s European hydrogen activities in the areas of Sales, Research & Development and Manufacturing.

January 2023, he was promoted to Vice President R&D2 whilst he continues to oversee TME's hydrogen activities as Head of Fuel Cell Business at Toyota Motor Europe.

Thiebault studied Mechanical Engineer at the KU Leuven in Belgium, specialising in Thermo-Mechanical Engineering. 

He is married with three children. 

Daniele Schillaci, currently serving as President and CEO, Toyota France (TFR), will be assigned as Senior Vice President Sales & Marketing, TME to lead the new Sales and Marketing organization.

Alain Uyttenhoven will be appointed Vice President Product Planning and concentrate the activities on future products preparation. He is currently serving as Vice President Product Planning & Marketing.

Miguel Fonseca, currently Vice President Sales Business, will be appointed Vice President Business Integration. He will study the activities necessary to pursue the reinforcement of the cooperation between TME and Toyota Financial Services.

The reinforcement of TME's organization announced today reflects two essential dimensions of Toyota's strategic direction in Europe. "Firstly, we need to be able to respond in the fastest and most efficient way to market volatility and changes in customers' expectations. This is the mission of the Sales and Marketing function. Secondly, in line with Toyota's global vision, we need to develop TME's role as planning centre for future vehicles in the A, B and C segments. It is essential to bring focus to this mission and the Product Planning division will play a key role in this integrated strategy, together with our engineers and designers" commented Didier Leroy, President and CEO, TME.

Other nominations across Toyota affiliates in Europe will take place on January 1, 2012:

• Jacques Pieraerts, currently Vice President and COO, Toyota España (TES) will be promoted to President, TES. He succeeds Katsuhito Ohno, who will be appointed as Chairman, TES.
• Hans-Erik Almebäck, currently Vice President, Toyota Nordics (TNRD), will be promoted to President, TNRD and Chairman of the Nordic distributors. Ichiro Ogiso, currently President, TNRD, will return to TMC in Japan. TNRD is Toyota's regional affiliate in Nordic countries, overlooking Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden and Baltics.
• Jon Williams, currently Managing Director, Toyota Great Britain (TGB) will be promoted to President and Managing Director, TGB.
• Jacek Pawlak, currently Director Sales Business, TME, will be appointed President, Toyota Motor Poland (TMPL). He succeeds Tsutomu Otsubo, who will be appointed as Chairman, TMPL.
• Pascal Ruch, currently General Manager, Demand and Supply, SPEED (*) Division, TME, will be promoted to Director, Demand and Supply SPEED Division. He will be assigned as President and CEO of Toyota France from February 1, 2012. Note: Daniele Schillaci will keep double assignment in January 2012, and he will also be appointed chairman of TFR as from February 2012.

• Marvin Cooke, currently Director Production Engineering, TME, will be promoted to Deputy Managing Director Vehicle Manufacturing, Toyota Motor Manufacturing UK (TMUK).

Katsuhito Ohno (50) joined Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) in 1984. He was subsequently assigned to TMC's Europe Division and Overseas Planning Division before becoming a Senior Coordinator at Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. in 1999, first in External Affairs and then in Sales and Marketing. He returned to Japan in 2003 to become Manager and then General Manager for Planning within TMC's Africa Division. He has been President and CEO of Toyota España since 2008.

Massimo Gargano (48) joined Toyota Motor Italia in 1998 as General Manager of Sales. He was promoted to Commercial Director in 2003. He joined TME in 2005 as General Manager for Toyota Sales Operations, before being promoted Director of Customer Service, Sales and Marketing. He returned to TMI in 2009 as Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer (COO).

The changes are intended to create structures that can meet the following objectives:

1) convey customer opinions and on-site information to management in a timely manner,

2) make prompt management decisions based on on-site information and

3) make constant checks as to whether management decisions are acceptable to society.

I. Changes to Management Structures 

1. Streamlining of board of directors The number of directors will be reduced from 27 to 11.

The board of directors will comprise the chairman, president, five executive vice presidents, and the four officers responsible for the Business Development Group, Accounting Group and External Affairs Group (a formal decision will be made at the board of directors meeting held after the 107th General Shareholders Meeting).

2. Scaling down of executive decision-making system

- The current three-tier executive system with executive vice presidents, chief officers, and officers responsible for group affairs will be streamlined to two tiers by eliminating the officers responsible for group affairs.

- Chief officers will be appointed in a flexible manner from the new positions of senior managing officers or managing officers.

The senior managing director position will be eliminated (a formal decision will be made at the board of directors meeting held after the 107th General Shareholders Meeting). There will also be a substantial reduction in the total number of executives from 77 to 60.

3. Changes to structures to allow local decision making by overseas affiliates 

Regional chief officers will in principle be stationed in their respective regions and the number of executives stationed outside Japan will be increased from 13 to 15.

Their divisions' functions, which are presently performed in Japan, will be transferred overseas in stages.

4. Changes to structures to ensure that outside opinions are listened to in earnest and reflected in management practices

- Regional advisory committees will be established in North America, Europe and Asia.

- Prof. Yoko Wake (of Keio University) will be appointed as outside corporate auditor (a formal decision will be made pending approval by the 107th General Shareholders Meeting).

5. Position of executive general manager will be created as non-executive position

- Executive general managers will be responsible for areas that require close contact with work sites and the implementation of management.

- Executive general managers will fill such posts as grand chief engineers responsible for vehicle development, general managers responsible for technology and plant general managers.

In other management changes, Mr. Didier Leroy has been named a Managing Officer of TMC. In addition to his current role as President, Toyota Motor Manufacturing France (TMMF), he will assume other responsibilities as an Executive Vice-President of TME.

In addition, Mr. Tamer Ünlü has been appointed President and Chief Executive Officer, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Turkey (TMMT). Mr. Ünlü is the first local staff member to assume this position at TMMT. Mr. Ünlü replaces Mr. Kazuhiro Kobayashi, who will return to Japan.

Tadashi Arashima graduated from Keio University with a degree in Political Science in 1973. He began working in the North America Division of TMC in Tokyo, Japan, that same year.

In June 2003, Mr. Arashima was named President and CEO of Toyota Motor Marketing Europe and Managing Officer at TMC. Following the legal merger of Toyota Motor Europe, and Toyota Motor Engineering and Manufacturing in October 2005, Mr. Arashima later assumed the position of President, TMME Company, Toyota Motor Europe in July 2006.

Mr. Arashima is married with two sons.
