Exhibiting at Tokyo Auto Salon 2023 and Tokyo Outdoor Show

Toyota GAZOO Racing (TGR) and Lexus are exhibiting at the three-day Tokyo Auto Salon 2023 held at Makuhari Messe (in Chiba, Japan) from January 13 to 15, 2023. Also, Toyota and Lexus are exhibiting at the concurrent Tokyo Outdoor Show at the same venue. Under the shared theme of “Toyota: Leaving no car lovers behind”, TGR, Lexus, and Toyota are exhibiting vehicles and automotive parts in line with the three concepts of “Carbon neutrality for protecting beloved cars”, “Making ever-better motorsports-bred cars”, and “Diverse lifestyles to enjoy with beloved cars”. During the events, TGR and Lexus will also propose new ways to enjoy cars and motorsports in the carbon-neutral era through talk sessions by professional racing drivers and development engineers, as well as through demo runs.

TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Unveils GR GT3 Concept at Tokyo Auto Salon 2022

TOYOTA GAZOO Racing (TGR) is committed to further accelerating customer motorsports activities. By promoting “driver first” vehicle development and with a desire to provide attractive cars that customers participating in GT3 - the pinnacle of customer motorsports - would choose, TGR has unveiled the GR GT3 Concept.

As was the case with the GR Yaris, by commercialising motorsports cars rather than simply adapting production vehicles for use in motorsports, TGR intends to use feedback and technologies refined through participation in various motorsports activities to develop both GT3 and mass-production cars and further promote making ever-better motorsports-bred cars.

GRMN Yaris in limited edition – for Japan only

The development of the GRMN Yaris began with the desire of Morizo, president Toyoda to “deliver cars to customers that evolve quickly and can be tailored to individuals like in the field of motorsports”.

The new GRMN Yaris will only be built in 500 units and available in Japan only. The weight has been reduced by approximately 20kg, overall width has been increased by 10mm for aerodynamic improvement, and vehicle height has been reduced by 10mm for a lower centre of gravity. Cars will only be available via a reservation lottery for customers in Japan.

bZ4X GR Sport Concept

Based on the bZ4X dedicated battery EV, the bZ4X GR Sport Concept delivers an elevated level of environmental performance and driving pleasure. Larger tires, sports seats, and matte black exterior body panels are among the highlights of this concept vehicle.

GR Heritage Parts Project

To respond to customers’ desires to keep their beloved and memory-rich cars of yesteryear on the road, the GR Heritage Parts Project aims to reproduce discontinued replacement parts for sale as new genuine parts. On display at the show is a selection of reproduced parts slated for release in 2022 for the A70 Supra, A80 Supra, Toyota 2000GT, Land Cruiser 40 series, and AE86 Corolla Levin/Sprinter Trueno.

Toyota brings company's latest voice-recognition software to Kibo Robot Project

Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) today announced the launch date of its jointly developed robot astronaut to the International Space Station (ISS). Kirobo is set to blast off from Tanegashima Space Centre on-board the Kounotori 4 cargo spacecraft on August 4, 2013.

Kirobo is one of two humanoid verbal-communication robots developed under the Kibo Robot Project, a joint research project carried out by University of Tokyo's Research Centre for Advanced Science and Technology (RCAST), Robo Garage Co., Ltd., and TMC. The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) also provided extensive assistance.

RCAST and Robo Garage worked on the development of the robot's hardware and Kirobo's mechanical movements, TMC contributed with the company's latest voice-recognition software, while Dentsu Inc. created the conversation content as well as management of the project.

The Kounotori transfer vehicle will be launched on the Japanese H-IIB Launch Vehicle No. 4 (H-IIB F4) on August 4, 2013. Kirobo will disembark at the ISS and wait for the arrival of Japanese astronaut Koichi Wakata, scheduled to arrive on Expedition 38 between November and December. Astronaut Wakata will become the first Japanese commander of the ISS in 2014 when he assumes command during the continuing Expedition 39.

In the Kibo Japanese experiment module, Commander Wakata and Kirobo will take part in the first-ever conversation experiment held between humans and robots in space.

Tmc becomes official tokyo 2020 bid partner

Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) has signed an agreement with the Tokyo 2020 Bid Committee to become an official partner* (from the automotive sector) supporting Tokyo's bid for the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The term of the agreement will be from March 26, 2013 through September 7, 2013, when the 2020 host city is selected.

TMC considers sports promotion as part of a company's social responsibility and as an official partner will actively contribute to Tokyo's bid for the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games by conducting support activities while using the official partner logo.

*Companies that conclude an agreement with the Tokyo 2020 Bid Committee to become an official partner acquire naming and official logo-use rights to support Tokyo's bid activities for the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
