As one of Europe’s favourite cars, it reached the milestone of one million sales on the continent at the end of 2024.

For 2025, the Toyota C-HR makes an even stronger impression with the new High Hero grade, introduced to replace the previous Premiere Edition. It brings bold new styling updates to showcase the highest levels of design and equipment, inspired by the second-generation Toyota C-HR’s DNA as a 'concept car for the road'.

In High Hero specification, the Toyota C-HR’s distinctive look is enhanced by the striking bi-tone+ colour scheme which creates the sleek appearance of a lower roof line via a strong black element on the side sills and roof. New design details emphasise the Toyota C-HR’s unique curves. The trim around the front grille is now colour matched to the vehicle colour, as is the rear bumper lip, while new 19-inch matt grey wheels complete the refined, modern exterior.

An energetic new Metal Oxide colour is available for the High Hero grade, as well as for bi-tone and bi-tone+ on selected other grades. It brings a deep and high chrome finish, and subtle changing effect to the dynamic character lines of Toyota C-HR’s unmistakable coupe silhouette.

The sophisticated updates extend inside the High Hero grade cabin, where updated front seat materials feature a mix of synthetic leather and suede, in deep red Bordeaux colour and accented with multicolour stitching. A Liquid Black gearshift knob, as well as trims on the door and front console, add a dynamic flourish, alongside the premium synthetic suede door panelling. In the rear, the Bordeaux palette is smartly executed in a combination of PVC and Samara materials for a comfortable, hard-wearing finish.

The High Hero cabin has a lighter and more spacious feeling thanks to the unique panoramic roof, which creates 3 cm of additional headroom and uses innovative technology to keep heat inside the cabin on cooler days and prevent overheating in sunny weather. As well as head-up driver display, the interior also features a 64-colour ambient lighting system for a serene atmosphere and enhanced safety via visual warnings, as well as nanoeX™ technology for improved air quality.

Elsewhere within the Toyota C-HR range, the GR SPORT Premiere Edition is given an updated identity as the GR SPORT Hero, boasting the same unique motorsports-inspired features. These include FSC shock absorber technology to deliver optimised handling adjusted to the road conditions, while a dynamic damper on the front strut reduces road noise and vibration. Imposing 20-inch wheels and stunning bi-tone+ colouring compliment eye-catching details, which include a G mesh grille pattern, GR badging, and sports front seats with embossed GR logo. Inside, there is Liquid Black ornamentation on the centre console, while head-up display and premium JBL audio system are also included.

For 2025, the Toyota C-HR offers a wide choice of powertrains across the range. In Plug-in Hybrid 220 specification, the Toyota C-HR boasts an EV range to satisfy modern European customer needs, expressing a dual DNA as a zero tailpipe emission electric vehicle for short trips, and ultra-efficient hybrid for longer journeys. It has a range of 66 km in the combined WLTP cycle, increasing to around 100 km in urban driving conditions (WTLP EAER City). Expanding on the options offered by its Premiere Edition predecessor, the High Hero grade is available with 1.8-litre Hybrid 140 powertrain alongside the Plug-in Hybrid 220 and Hybrid 200 options, with their 2.0-litre engines.

All versions of the Toyota C-HR benefit from Toyota T-Mate, which includes the third generation Toyota Safety Sense range of active safety and driver assistance features, as standard. When used exclusively on city or urban streets, it achieves an equivalent all-electric range of between 97 km and 106 km (WTLP EAER City) depending on the exact vehicle specifications.

A Predictive Efficient Drive system uses live data and information from previous trips to automatically optimise PHEV system functionality for enhanced efficiency. It includes a geo-fencing function – new for the Toyota C-HR Plug-in Hybrid 220 – to stay one step ahead of what the journey has in store. The system analyses road and traffic conditions via the cloud navigation and combines this with ongoing learning of a user’s regular routes and driving style. The vehicle automatically switches between hybrid and electric modes to enhance EV range for low emission zones. If the destination requires travel through a BEV-mandatory zone, the geo-fencing system ensures sufficient charge to do so entirely in EV mode. If the destination is within a low emission zone, the system automatically retains enough charge to complete the journey in EV mode.

Another Predictive Efficient Drive element – Predictive Deceleration Support – works to reduce the loss of regenerated energy, contributing to improve fuel economy. Utilizing the information from previous journeys, navigation system data identifies regular locations for deceleration and automatically increases engine braking force to enhance regenerative braking energy recovery.

When highways or uphill sections are approaching, which require additional power, the system proactively selects hybrid mode to charge the battery for the anticipated high demand, further enhancing practical fuel efficiency. The system becomes increasingly effective as more kilometres are driven, enabling ever more efficient use of electric power.

Greater efficiency with the Plug-in Hybrid 220 is also achieved through hardware innovations. When plugged in, a battery heating system reduces the time taken to recharge, which enhances the vehicle’s EV range in cold weather. During operation, the battery is cooled when needed to optimise performance and range while an innovative heat pump air conditioning system reduces the impact on EV driving range by using thermal energy from the air outside to heat the cabin.

When the battery is depleted on longer journeys, the Toyota C-HR Plug-in Hybrid 220 expresses its genuine dual DNA by switching automatically to hybrid mode, giving drivers the reassurance and flexibility of Toyota’s class-leading hybrid technology for continuous efficiency and peace of mind on every trip. The Toyota C-HR Plug-in Hybrid 220 features an advanced PHEV system, consisting of a 163 DIN HP (120 kW) electric motor on the front axle, with energy stored in a high-output 13.6 kWh Li-ion battery, alongside a 2.0 litre engine with 152 DIN HP (112 kW).

C-HR,C-HR PHEV,Toyota C-HR,chr,2024 C-HR,2023 c-hr,2020 c-hr
