TOYOTA GAZOO Racing at Goodwood Speedweek

Summary
  • TOYOTA GAZOO Racing to enter strong line-up of cars and drivers for the first Goodwood Speedweek
  • British Touring Car Championship star Tom Ingram to compete in the shoot-out contest in his race-winning Toyota Corolla
  • First UK appearance of the new GR Yaris, a performance hot hatch developed directly from TOYOTA GAZOO Racing’s World Rally Championship experience

TOYOTA GAZOO Racing has confirmed more cars and drivers for the first Goodwood Speedweek, taking place over the weekend of 16-18 October at the Goodwood Race Circuit in West Sussex.

The line-up includes British Touring Car Championship star Tom Ingram in the Speedworks Motorsport/TOYOTA GAZOO Racing UK Corolla. Ingram is enjoying a strong season, having won two races and holding fourth place in the drivers’ championship. He will be taking part in a shoot-out competition to set the fast Goodwood lap time.

TOYOTA GAZOO Racing is taking the opportunity to give the new GR Yaris its first public appearance in the UK. Born from Toyota’s World Rally Championship experience, this performance thoroughbred model underwent extreme testing before a final sign-off by Toyota Gazoo Racing Master Driver Morizo – alias Toyota President Akio Toyoda. The new car – the second global GR model following the launch of the GR Supra – defines how TOYOTA GAZOO Racing is using its competition experience, know-how and technology to help Toyota create ever-better road cars and to build a passionate fan following around the world.

GAZOO Racing has been a leading supporter of the Goodwood Festival of Speed, first appearing with the Lexus LFA supercar in 2009, the year it took part in the Nürburgring 24 Hours. It has been a regular participant since 2012 and the launch of the GT86 coupe. Since then it has enjoyed introducing new models to fans, including the GR Supra and, this year, the GR Yaris. It also uses the event as a showcase for its top-level participation in the FIA World Endurance Championship and World Rally Championship. As announced earlier, TOYOTA GAZOO Racing World Rally Team driver Elfyn Evans will be in action in the GR Yaris on a rally stage specially constructed for the Speedweek event.

Goodwood Speedweek has been organised following the cancellation of the Goodwood Festival of Speed and Revival due to the Covid pandemic. It combines elements from both events in a weekend of motorsport action. Fans will be able to view the three days of live action broadcast from the circuit on a dedicated streaming site free of charge, as well as on the Goodwood Twitter, Facebook and YouTube social media channels. More information about Goodwood Speedweek is available here.
