Toyota gives the Corolla Sedan sharper style-appeal with new GR SPORT

  • Engineered Corolla Sedan joins the Hatchback and Touring Sports in adding new GR SPORT version with dynamic design elements, inside and out
  • Piano black exterior detailing and new interior finish displaying TOYOTA GAZOO Racing colours
  • Exclusive bi-tone paint finish option
  • First GR SPORT model to be offered in Toyota’s Eastern European markets

The Toyota Corolla Sedan is sharpening its appeal with a new GR SPORT model set to join the range, following the success of the Corolla Hatchback and Touring Sports GR SPORT versions. Common styling elements, including exterior and interior trims and alloy wheel and seat designs, are shared across all three body styles, creating a strong GR SPORT family feel

With a look inspired by Toyota’s performance-focused GR models and referencing the livery colours of TOYOTA GAZOO Racing, the GR SPORT grade brings a more youthful and dynamic appeal to the elegant and distinctive four-door body style. The sedan will also be the first GR SPORT model to be offered in Toyota’s Eastern European markets.

Giving the Corolla Sedan some visual freshness will increase its attractiveness to younger customers. Chrome makes way for piano black features on the exterior, including the front grille, door mirror casings, centre pillars and side sills that emphasise the car’s low stance. There is also a black garnish that forms a distinctive C-shaped frame on the corners of the front bumper, adding to the sense of the car’s broad stance.

Alloy wheels are black with a contrasting bright machined finish to the ends of each spoke and the GR trademark red ring around the centre cap. Two different 10-spoke designs are available – 17-inch fitted as standard and 18-inch as an option.

The dynamic character is also reflected in a discreetly integrated bootlid spoiler, finished in the car’s body colour, a black rear garnish above the licence plate and GR SPORT badging on the rear.

Dynamic Grey is the new signature colour for the GR SPORT, one of eight colour choices. Seven of these, including Dynamic Grey, can be combined with a black roof in the first bi-tone paint option for the Corolla Sedan.

The dynamic ambience of the cabin is evoked by a black headlining, a steering wheel wrapped in tactile perforated leather and brushed aluminium front scuff plates bearing the GR logo. The sports front seats both look good and offer excellent support, with generous side and cushion bolsters and integrated headrests. They are upholstered in a combination of black cloth and high-quality synthetic leather, with a contrasting vertical stitch pattern in white and red, matching the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing colours. The same colour theme is applied to the rear bench seat.

As an option, Corolla Sedan GR SPORT customers can specify an interior ambient lighting system, LED exterior lights and the bi-tone bodywork paint finish.

The new model will be available – according to the local market – with the current 1.8-litre hybrid and 1.6-litre petrol powertrains. Production will get under way in November 2020, ahead of sales starting, again according to market, from January 2021.
