Toyota Motor Europe announces executive changes as it establishes a Circular Economy function, effective July 1st , 2023

Brussels, 22nd June 2022 – Toyota Motor Europe (TME) announces today executive level appointments at its European Headquarters and changes to the company structure with the appointment of one of its vice presidents to head up a new function focusing on Circular Economy.  It marks another move forward by TME as it accelerates the transformation towards a mobility company, built on the principles of carbon neutrality and sustainability. All changes are effective 1st July 2023.

Leon van der Merwe, currently Vice President, Supply Chain, TME will be appointed to Vice President, Circular Economy, TME. In this newly created function Mr van der Merwe will be responsible for building a circular economy function unit with the key objective of introducing the 5R approach (re-design, re-circulate, retain, re-purpose, recycle) to the overall business model, to allow Toyota to maximise the end-to-end value of its products.

Jean-Christophe Deville, currently Head of Production of Vehicle Logistics Group, Supply Chain, TME, will succeed Leon and will be promoted to Vice President, Supply Chain.
