Three Toyota employees win gold at 42nd Worldskills Competition in Germany
Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) announces that three Toyota employees each won gold medals in their respective fields at the 42nd WorldSkills Competition* in Leipzig, Germany. TMC—as a representative of Japan—fielded eight representatives in seven fields, with each contestant winning an award, including two gold medals and one bronze medal. Toyota representatives from Thailand and Indonesia also competed, earning one gold medal and two silver medals.
Upon hearing the results, TMC President Akio Toyoda said: "Building upon their rigorous day-to-day training and studies, Toyota employees from Japan, Thailand and Indonesia demonstrated their impressive, accumulated skills. I wish to thank everyone for their support and guidance. These representatives show that for Toyota, and for Japan, highly skilled monozukuri is essential in realizing sustainable growth. Toyota will continue to invest in human resource development for the preservation and development of monozukuri."
In the medal tally, Japan, with five medals, came in fourth after South Korea, Switzerland and Taiwan. Of the five medals, two were earned by representatives from TMC.
