Toyota touch 2 with go' to include google street view and panoramio

Wednesday 4 September. Toyota Motor Europe today announces that Google Street View and Panoramio services will be available to owners of Toyota Touch 2 with Go from January 2014. Daniele Schillaci, Senior Vice President Sales and Marketing for Toyota in Europe comments: "We are excited to be the first mainstream brand to offer these services, which allow drivers to better confirm or recognise their destination, and to visualise the access and parking layouts before arrival."

Taking advantage of the improved screen of the second generation Toyota Touch display audio, which has 4 times the number of pixels on screen sizes of up to 8 inches, the new navigation services bring strikingly clear pictures to users within seconds.

Google Street View provides drivers with panoramic views from positions along many roads in the world, helping them to familiarize themselves with their destination before they arrive.

Panoramio takes this experience one step further, by offering user-uploaded images of a given location, allowing drivers to plan their trip in a more informed manner.

Keeping with the affordable innovation ideal of Toyota, the services will be free for 1 year, and utilise the customer's smartphone for connection to the internet, thus avoiding additional hardware or data costs in most cases.

Google Street View and Panoramio will be available on all vehicles equipped with Toyota Touch 2 with Go as from January 2014 production. Customers who have a vehicle with Toyota Touch 2 with Go produced before that date, will be able to upgrade their system by means of a simple software update.

Demonstration units will be available to customers and journalists at Frankfurt Motor Show starting on 10 September.

Note to editors: The first generation connected navigation, Toyota Touch & Go, was launched on Yaris in 2011, and included Google Local Search from the start. Toyota Europe has sold more than 300,000 units across all models to date.
